The Urge

9 1 1

Through the deep jungle I run
Faster and faster, panting, breathless.
Trying to escape it.
Quicker than light, she pounces after me.
Always on my tail, the urge to kill
Never missing a beat.
At last, I stop.

I brandish my cutting knife,
Holding it up to her.
she cowers away, suddenly afraid
That today is her last.

She is like me.
I wonder if she is the same.
The very same urge
That I am unable
to fulfill.
