The New Republic Star Ship Kanan Jarrus had just entered out of Hyperspace. Being a Mon Calamari cruiser, it wasn't an out of the normal ship for the New Republic Defense Fleet especially when hundreds of ships were in the same design. Armed with the latest Turbo Laser Batteries, Proton Torpedoes, it had at least four hangar bays on either side of the ship - each with new model X Wings, B Wings, Y Wings, and even the odd Gunship. Not to mention the crew to use it for. The Kana Jarrus was painted with the Republic banner on each of its silvery blue side wings, its many engines on all sides made the echoing hum. Not quite as threatening, but it was still a rather odd sound to have in a DF starship. The crew often joked and made rumors that it used to be a Star Destroyer or the main engine belonged to one. Over the years it has almost become a flagship for the Chancellor but it was already taken for someone else.

Admiral Hera Syndulla took a deep breath as she made her way, via Elevator shafts, to one of the Hangar bays to greet their Jedi guests personally. She wanted her guests to feel welcomed aboard her flagship, and Hera was already well known in the ranks of the New Jedi Order. She knew the famous Luke Skywalker, having had once fought alongside him during the War more times than she could count. Hera remembered how Luke helped save a Colony during the Battle of Dantooine, where the old Empire had taken the planet as a new testing ground for a biological chemical that killed thousands and destroyed much farmland. It was so long ago, years in fact, but she could remember it as if it were yesterday and she could still hear the sounds of the Imperial Tie Fighters as they swooped down firing their lasers at her ship, the Ghost.
She was in the first space battle against the Imperial Navy. The Rebels had been in a four-month-long campaign with the remnants of Saw Gerrera's terrorists, who were originally reluctant to work with the old Alliance, but they were outnumbered. And when Intel said outnumbered, they did not mention three Moffs coming to the planet along with their combined forces and fleets. It was one of the toughest battles of Hera's life and it was one of the most memorable, because at that time Hera Syndulla was pregnant with her one and only son.
She remembered quite well how the generals and even Commander Rex were adamantly against her going into a war zone with a child on the way. Rex especially wanted her to stay on board the Command ship even telling the Admiral to keep a safe distance. But Hera was hearing none of it. Swollen belly or not she was going to help in the battle and fight the Empire single-handed if she had to.
