We finally got there. It was such a relief at that. Nikki had apparently already had her baby via C-section. Their names were Anna Grace and Francis Joy. I swear they were the most adorable babies in the nursery.  Nikki was doing great She was to be released in two days as long as we promise she was to do nothing. She didn't want to either so there was no arguing. It seemed that if you have your lower abdomen cut open you don't feel like doing anything.

Mom and Dad had to go on a moved up business trip so they left two days after Nikki got home. Sally stayed with me because Mom and Dad did not trust her alone at the house. (Since we live in a suburb or Oklahoma City, I don't really blame them.)

With the three days after Mom and Dad left I did everything from dishes and cooking dinner to working in the garden. I didn't mind doing it except that at night Sally complained I wasn't getting any "quality time" with her. I would love to spend some time with them and I could if chores didn't take so blasted long. It irritates me badly when Sally complains but doesn't lift a finger to help.

After a week of doing everything Nikki called me over. "Amelia, you have done far too much. I think you need to go have fun. Go hang out with Rose or Elizabeth."

"No Nikki, it's okay. I'll be good."

"Amelia look at me. You are really pale and I'm worried about you. I want you to at least do something... Outside... For YOURSELF!"

"But Nikki I just..."

"You don't want to see Matthew. I know you liked/ like him. He has changed since last summer. I'm sorry he said y'all were just friends but it was better then instead of leading you on." She cut me off."

"Fine. But are you sure you'll be okay here by yourself?"

She simply nodded and shooed me out of the door.

The sunlight felt amazing against my face. I haven't felt it in days. (I did the garden at night.)  The wind was whipping and the leftover spring wildflowers laid scattered across the group.

I took two steps off the front porch and instantly fell to the ground. No cause I couldn't lift myself, but for I hadn't been that great ful to be able to see the ground besides the garden. I wallered around for a few minutes longer till I heard voices.

It was Elizabeth and Rose. I barely saw them from behind the trees lining the road till the fence.

I let out a slight squeal and ran up to greet them. I went right in for a hug. They were really excited. I hadn't seen them for almost a year.  They had already seen and visited with Sally who decided she didn't want to be any help or company.

"I missed you guys," I told them.

"We missed you too," Elizabeth said. She was 7 years older than Rose.

"We were just bringing her lunch so you wouldn't have to. Jacob is going to be late tonight he is having to do more to make up for the lack of work the first 3 days."

Jacob is Nikki's husband.

We went in and visited with Nikki. I was excused early to walk over to their house. Mrs. Johnson was in the kitchen getting dishes done from lunch.  I went over and gave her a huge hug.

"Amelia, it is really nice to see you again."

"You too." I replied.

"What about me?" A voice said. I knew that from anywhere. Matthew...
