What Kept Us Close
•×•×•×•
I hate this day.
And the day before. The day next. And the day after.
Even though we are living in the same world, we view the world differently. For example this clear blue sky represents happiness, joy, love, hope to others. But for me, this represents my suffering, my pain, the life I'm only allowed to live in.
And even though someone says that everyone experience pain in their own-I know no one can understand me. No one will understand for their parents to be killed at a young age, kill at a young age. Live in a run inside this walls that was build with the blood of my ancestors. For 13 years of wandering like a wolf in a cage-I will seek revenge.
2 years from now-something big will happen, like what I heard from here and then. If the bomb was left ticking, no doubt it will kill us all later.
"Fresh apples! Orange! Banana!"
"Fish! Fish in any sizes!"
"Come on up! We're on sale!"The market is packed as usual. Vestar divides into 5 towns. North Town-Zethir, South Town-Elease, East Town-Blazik, West Town-Feks and the Capital Town-Feksol. The market I'm in is here in Feksol. This is the only part of Vestar near the Gates of Tyskor, the gateway from Vestar to the other side. You can see merchants, dealers, traders here. But they sell everything in high price so some can only buy it through trades then they will sell it back in their hometowns for money.
Wandering to the heart of the market, I spotted a blue hooded party near an inn. Looking closer, they bear the crest of a lion and a rose-the Search Party. Search Party are the spies send by the Severin government to ensure no one will plan a revolt here. It also ensures that rogues-like me, will be soon placed in cuffs and be beheaded for everyone to see. Even though I'm playing with fire right now, I need something from them.
Golden Rose Inn is a famous 4 star inn with a reasonable price but a suprisingly grand services. No wonder they choose this place.
I entered the inn and walked inside like I belong here. Confidence with everything you do will not raise suspicion especially when you're sneaking in a high class inn.
Overtaking a couple of costumers and some drunk men, I arrived at the doorsteps of the party I was looking for. I peeked inside and notice that they were terribly drunk and now sleeping. I took the chance and sneak inside to their dressing room.
The cloaks they are wearing are now laid in front of me. They were made from smooth silk with the touch of royalty. No doubt that these are high ranked dogs and are probably close to the king itself or any member of the royal family. I grabbed a metal out of my pocket and patched it in the cloaks. They will become useful soon.
Knowing my job here is done, I spun my heel and touched the doorknob to walk away.
"There! The one with the cloak there! He's a thief!"
Troublesome. That noisy pest.
I secured my hood and jumped out of the backyard past the drunk Search Party. I ran outside the town into the woods-near the wall. I can't afford to be taken now. I still have more things to do. I stopped running when I noticed that no one follows me anymore. Not everyone goes to the forest anyways, only rogues like me or some dumb townperson. And no one else goes near the wall except for me, and maybe some risk-taking people put there. It is said that it's death you'll be facing in the walls.
Sighing, I decided to call it a day. Even if it's 3:00 in the afternoon. It's more dangerous at night anyway so need to sleep early to wake up early. Closing my eyes, I know-something will happen.
The rumbling sound made me jolt awake from my sleep. Could it be another caravan? Dismissing the thought I decided to go back to sleep, not until another shake came.
What the hell is that? I opened my eyes forcefully, and all I notice is the ground shaking. What the hell is going on? Jumping from the tree that I was sleeping on to the ground, I ran into a clearer clearing even though the ground is shaking. Dumb idea right?
I stumbled back to the ground as the ground continued to shake intensely. For the first time in years, a major earthquake is happening. This is not good.
I stopped again when I heard another crash and grumbles. What is that? I turned my back and noticed the wall is collapsing.
For two decades that the wall is in there. How could this happen?
For a little more time the ground finally stopped shaking. Only the higher part of the wall collapsed and cracks was left but other than that, there are no further damage. Seeing how it collapsed back then, I know that only a couple more of these earthquakes, the wall will be down.
I placed my back on the wall and reminisced what my mother once said. "One day the wall will break, and soon we'll be free from this misery."
I will, get my revenge for the blood of our clan.
I held the remaining wall in my hands, thinking how the blood of my ancestors were once displayed in this very walls. I sighed.
Dusting of my cloak, I headed back to the forest.
"Wait!" A voice of a male spoke.
I turned my back and looked at my surroundings. Who was that?
"Are you, from Vestar?" I realized, it was not here but the voice came from the other side of the wall, Severin.
Could it be-
"Are you from Severin?" I asked, throwing back the question.
Silence floated around us for awhile.
"Yes."
