LUKE'S POINT OF VIEW
HINDInaako nagtaka na hindi ko na naabutan si mommy pagkababa ko sa dining area nang umagang iyon. Si daddy na lang ang naabutan ko na kasalukuyang umiinom ng kape at nagbabasa ng dyaryo.
"Good morning, 'dad," I greeted him then kissed his cheek bago umupo sa kanan niya.
Nakahanda na ang breakfast ko—fried rice, sunny-side up egg, bacon at ang umuusok pang hot chocolate.
"Nauna na ang Mommy mo sa office dahil may maaga siyang meeting. Ako naman, after lunch pa ang meeting ko kaya ako na ang nagpaiwan muna dito para makasabay mong kumain."
"Hindi na sana kailangan, 'dad. I understand that you and 'mom are busy."
"It's never a good reason to forget our responsibilities as parents."
I simply answered him with a smile. Iyon talaga ang isa sa gusto ko sa parents ko. They're so sweet to me. Kahit kailan ay hindi ko naramdaman na hindi nila ako mahal o hindi ako importante sa kanila. Maybe because I was their only child kaya lahat ng atensyon nila ay nasa akin. Good thing at hindi nila ako pinalaking spoiled dahil hindi ko naman masasabing sunod ako sa luho.
They always reminded me to work hard and to not just depend on our wealth. Iyon rin naman ang gusto ko. I'd always wanted to persevere and create a name on my own. Gusto kong maging proud sila sa'kin.
Tsaka lang kumain si Daddy no'ng nakita niyang kumain na rin ako. Yes, he was that sweet.
"Excited ka na ba for your first day in your new school?" he asked.
"A little bit nervous," I honestly answered. "I've only been to the same school mula kindergarten. Syempre, ibang school na 'to. New environment, new people."
"It's going to be fun and exciting, I assure you. Tsaka maganda rin naman ang change of environment paminsan-minsan, eh. Naging comfort zone mo na ang dati mong school. Rest assured that Silverio Academy is a competitive school. We did our research and I can say na impressive ang paaralang iyon. Not to mention na kilala namin ang may-ari ng school because they're one of our business associates."
Alam ko naman na hindi basta-bastang pipili ng school ang parents ko without further research. They have been very particular about my academic performances. They always reminded me to do good in school dahil ako ang magmamana ng mga negosyo namin pagdating ng panahon. Pero syempre, hindi ako naka-feel ng pressure because they always talked to me gently. Naiintindihan ko naman ang point nila kaya sinisiguro ko na hindi ko sila madi-disappoint.
