Phillen sighed as his secretary, along with his friends, went through the never-ending pile of envelopes.
It seemed that it did not even matter that he had allowed them to put two into one envelope.
At least they all are enjoying some of the responses, he thought as he watched them all guffaw at some of the weird things that a few sent in. Unfortunately, he couldn't find it in him to join them.
Once again, Shade had refused to meet him outside of the Facility. He knew that it was because she did not want either of them to be targeted by enemies, but...
He just wanted to hang out with her anyway.
"Hey, Phillen," he rolled his eyes as his friend Justin sat next to him.
Justin was his closest friend, besides Shade, of course. He had light-brown hair and forest-green eyes, but that wasn't why they became friends. He had this air about him, one that made you instantly comfortable around him.
But Phillen's natural instinct to be suspicious did tend to kick in regardless.
"Is it about... her?" Justin sighed when Phillen nodded.
"I dunno," Phillen sighed. "I guess, after doing this for so long, I was hoping that maybe she'd just, try. Maybe I should make this one my last-"
"Hey, Phillen!"
He sighed and cursed under his breath before turning to the group around the envelopes. "What?" He asked, making no effort to hide his annoyance.
"No need for the hostility, man," Xavier muttered with an eye roll. "I just thought that this letter might make you laugh a little. And what kind of name is Deadly Shade? Who even-"
"What?" the soft mutter that came from Phillen made Xavier look at him with a raised eyebrow. His hands were clenching the chair under him as if it were the only thing holding him steady. Almost like a rocket, he shot out of his seat, grabbing the envelope from Xavier. His protests fell on deaf ears as Phillen's eyes slightly glazed over, moving a mile a minute.
1) What is Phillen's favorite colour?
Midnight purple, because it reminds him off his mother.
He chuckled as he remembered.
"Okay," he turned to face her, thinking on his next question. "Favorite colour?"
"Black," she said instantly. "I always feel more comfortable in the dark. Yours?"
