"She's coming she's coming she's coming she's coming she's coming...," Phillen chanted as he bounced around the room.
In all honestly, Felixia adored the idiot, she really did. He was like the sibling that she dreamed of having. They got along from the moment they met, almost as if they were kindred spirits of a sort.
That, however, did not mean that she was tolerating this.
"Alright, Mr. Lovestruck," she clasped him by the shoulders and forced him into a chair, reaching for the nearby roll of duct tape they kept for emergencies.
In her opinion, this overreaction of his classified as an emergency.
She casually pulled at the tip, lining it up by his mouth. He still kept chanting the words, his smile reaching psychotic proportions, before she quickly and efficiently covered his mouth as it closed. Cutting off the end, she smoothened out the whole strip before standing back to admire her work.
He was still murmuring behind the tape which held his mouth closed, but at least the endless chants weren't bothering her anymore. Rocking slightly on the chair, Felixia thanked whoever was watching over her that he did not start bouncing around again.
"Is everyone okay?" Justin peaked into the door, Xavier right behind him. Felixia just glanced at Phillen, not noticing that his mouth had shifted from chanting to slowly widening.
Justin's eyes widened at the scene, before sighing.
"Let me guess, he was chanting like a maniac, huh?" Justin studied the tape over Phillen's mouth for a moment before nodding sagely. Felixia thanked whoever was watching out for her when he did not remove it.
Unfortunately, her relief did not last long.
"FELIXIA!" Xavier shoved Justin to the side and charged to Phillen. He muttered something along the lines of them all getting in trouble for silencing the main singer, before reaching for the tape.
He was silenced by an almost deafening scream at a pitch she did not think it was possible to hear, especially from Phillen. Xavier immediately reattached the tape, taking extra care to smooth it over to prevent any of the awful sound from escaping.
"I think we can go without our lead for a few moments," Justin muttered, rubbing his ears in pain. Xavier nodded in agreement.
"A little too late for that," Felixia observed, staring at Phillen. His expression had changed completely, going from excitement to one she knew way too well.
Especially when it came to all things Shade-related.
She gently removed the tape, immediately getting swept away by his worries.
"-and she'll hate me forever and she'll never want to see me again and I'll be a loner with fifteen cats and a gerbil and-," Felixia grabbed him firmly by the shoulders, shaking him gently.
"Phillen, focus on me," his eyes immediately jumped to her, the panic in them way too familiar. She calmed down her own breathing, encouraging him to follow her. Soon, he closed his eyes, letting out a sigh in relief.
"Okay, I'm calm," he blushed slightly, looking away. "Sorry about that. It's-"
"The stress and your meds, we know," Justin pulled him from the chair, gesturing to the door. "Now, we have time to either have one more practice run or just relax and calm down. Since you're the most panicky right now, my dear old Philly, you have the honour of making the decision."
Felixia watched as Phillen accepted Justin's attempt to distract him. She smiled as he slowly returned to normal.
Maybe this was a good idea after all…
This was a terrible idea.
"I'm sorry, Jenni. I'm feeling a little under the weath-," Kaytie muttered, trying to pull away from her friend and escape.
"No. Not happening," Jenni grabbed her arm and dragged her back. "I took you to the doctor earlier today so you can't claim to be sick. Don't even bother getting Devin to help you get out of this one, either. You know he needs a break from watching his little sister, and he said he's only going if you are."
Stupid Night and his tricks, Kaytie sighed. She allowed Jenni to drag her to Devin Fulturer's beat-up second-hand car, who happened to be right behind the wheel with a knowing smile on his face.
Devin Fulturer, also known as Secret Agent Night, was Kaytie's notorious best friend and they were practically joined to the hip since they were in diapers. He was also her main reason for joining the secret agency.
Just like his parents.
"Get in, Slowpokes," he hollered at them, making a big show of honking his horn and neatly deafening them all. "The concert is in half an hour! I refuse to wait that long to get in!"
"I got it, I got it," Kaytie sighed as she sat next to her two brothers, both of whom were bouncing in their seat in excitement. It brought a smile to her face, on that immediately disappeared once she noticed the grin Jenni gave her.
"Are you all finally ready to go?" Night cut her off before she could give her honest opinion. "Too late. There's no turning back now."
He floored the gas pedal, making Kaytie's brothers and Jenni panic. Kaytie just reached over and slapped him lightly. He took the hint and slowed down, a sheepish grin on his face.
It was safe to say that Jenni and the two boys gripped onto Shade for dear life until they arrived.
