To Own The Crown

Chapter 2 (The Sun)

I was shown all of my classes and now we were on our way to the dorm rooms. We crossed the field and entered a very large dorm. Girls were running around and screaming everywhere on the first floor. 

"The first floor is all the first years, as you can tell there are a ton of them. They are all from the magical families in all the seven kingdoms and realms. In your world they are what you'd call the seventh graders. Second floor is the second years otherwise known as the eighth graders and they aren't much better than the first years. As an eleventh grader coming in you are going to be considered a first year eleventh grader, so yes you'll have some classes with other eleventh graders, like English or Math, but you'll have some by yourself or maybe one or two others, your classes are likely to be fast paced since you're a royal and already in eleventh. So be prepared to start using the power that's hidden inside of you." Sarah stated.

We finally arrive to my dorm room on the fifth floor and instantly it's a lot quieter than all the previous floors. People are sitting around in groups playing games of some sort or another, some are in chairs or on the floor reading, some people are watching TV. Then there's about five people who seem to be conjuring elements. They are the one's that really catch my attention. 

A girl with fire red hair similar to mine, but her eyes are an icy blue, and her skin pale which causes the splash of dark freckles all around her face to be on full display for all to see, she was holding a ball of fire in her hands. The guy next to her on her left had blonde hair and his eyes almost a pale ash grey, he's a very slender guy but looks like he could move a mountain. He was flying or hovering thanks to the wind under him carrying him upwards. Another girl in their groups had bronze colored hair and her eyes an earthy green, she controlled the earth. The last two guys both had pitch black hair, they looked like brothers, but the one who controlled water had blue eyes like the purest of all water and the other one was shrouded in shadows almost as if he controlled them.

"They are the elementals, Rachel controls fire, Matt controls air, Megan controls the earth and nature, where as Ares controls water and Siret controls shadows and darkness, Ares and Siret are cousins. Those five are considered the strongest in the Academy thus far. Only a pure royal with immense power can pass them up, they are almost never apart except when they return to their dorms at night. It's said that there are two more elementals that will join the ranks of the royal elementals. You as a royal have a shot at being one of them, after all there's only twelve royal families in existence."

"So since ya'll are saying that I'm a royal of one of the only royal families out there you think I might be an elemental?"

"Yes, we do think you have the potential to, but it's still uncertain. Now I suggest you go inside your dorm room and settle in before dinner in half an hour." Sarah told me before turning on her heel and hurrying down the hall. 

Finally I step into my dorm room. I notice there's four bed rooms within the dorm room, there's two with stuff currently in them, so I guess I get to chose which room I want out of the other two. One had purple curtains and blue walls, the bed had a blue comforter with purple pillows. whereas the other room was decorated in gold and silver, so that's the one I chose. 

That's when I heard voices as the door opened.

"Rach, what are we gonna do? We need the last two, but we don't know who they are, The crown of Elelini and The Crown of Magine are still unclaimed, Seven crowns and seven elementals, so where are they? The time is upon us that we must all unite to save the worlds from utter destruction."

"I wish I knew Meg, but alas I haven't got a clue either, though I have the feeling they will be appearing soon, much sooner than expected. The royals will be sending their eldest kids here soon, but I feel the energy of the sun drawing closer, have been for some time and now, it almost feels as if the sun is in this building. As the fire I feel the heat of her spirit."

"It's funny Rach, I'm pretty sure that Ares said something very similar just this morning, but about Ice," The girl, Megan, I guess said.

"Who or what are you guys talking about?" I ask as I finally make my presence know by stepping out of my room.

'"Who are you?" Megan asked instantly. She sounded hostile like she didn't trust me.

"I am Kathrine, and I was told just today that I'm royal, and I guess we are roommates. Also I guess I am to inherit the Crown of Elelini, at least that's what they believe."

"What is your power? I suspect you came from another academy then? Probably Diamosa Academy for the Exceptionally Gifted, right?" Rachel asked. She seemed very curious.

"I don't know, I just got here, I never went to an academy, so I have no clue what my power is. Honestly I never even knew about all of this until about two hours ago."

"You've never been to an academy? So you're saying that you're a first year? Yet they're starting you off as a fifth year?"

"Yeah, they said my classes will be primarily separate from others for a while, but I'll still have some classes with others."

"Wait, you, you are the sun. I feel it now, the heat of your energy burns even the purest of fire." Rachel finally let out. 

It was then that something clicked inside of me and I knew her words held truth. Out of no where I started glowing brightly, before I passed out.
