Chapter 1- Running

Skylar's POV

I was running. As fast as I could, I knew this was the end. I hadn't even gotten a chance to say goodbye. They were closing in on me now, their disgusting green and rotting faces drooled at the sight of my human flesh. I was cornered, just before they took a chomp out of me, I heard tornado sirens blaring. Wait.. tornado sirens?

I woke with a start. "Skylar? SKYLAR?!?!?" My best friend Ashley shouted over the sound of the sirens. "Skylar!!! You NEED to wake up!! We need to take cove- AAAAHHH!" She screamed as she dodged a falling brick. I looked around the room. I was sitting in my chair, in my 2nd period classroom. I had my journal in my hand. That journal was my lifeline. It kept all my deepest, darkest secrets. I grasped it tightly and ran to Ashley. "What happened?" I said loudly over the sirens. "You fell asleep during class and then the tornado came.. COME ON! WE NEED TO GET WITH THE REST OF THE CLASS!!" She yelled. We went into the hall where the rest of our classmates were. Ashley and I sat down with everyone else. My boyfriend, Brandon, looked at me and smiled. "You're just too cute when you're scared." I silently groaned and rolled my eyes without him seeing. I really didn't like him, but now wasn't the time to tell him. I turned to Ashley as she screamed, "SKYLAR!! WATCH OUT!!" I looked up just to see a brick falling. Then everything went black.

Ashley's POV

"SKYLAR!! WATCH OUT!!" she looked up as a brick hit her in the head and she collapsed. "I've got this!" Brandon said. "I can give her mouth to mouth!' "BRANDON! SHE DOESNT LIKE YOU OKAY?!? YOU'RE AN ANNOYING PIECE OF CRAP AND SHE WANTS TO BREAK UP WITH YOU!" I yelled. "Wow, jealous much?" he said. A brick soon fell and I picked it up and nailed him in the head with it. "Serves you right! HA!" I then remembered Skylar. I pulled out my phone and called 911. Soon, the ambulance pulled up to the school. "Isn't it a little dangerous to drive in a tornado?" Mine and Skylar's teacher Mrs.Wiggins said. "Our drivers are highly trained to drive through any weather. We'll be fine." One of the paramedics said. I climbed into the ambulance and sat by Skylar. I hoped and prayed that she would wake up.
