The Crown Made Of Darkness

Arrival

Mae stood in front of the mirror.

This body had gone through so much.

Being torn apart from one life to another, one person to the next.

The plain white dress she ordered online lay behind her on the bed. She sighed and flopped back onto the bed.

"What's happened to me? Why do I feel like this?" She asked looking up at the ceiling. They were already in Vatican City at an extremely expensive hotel that the clan rented out for the entire week. The ceremony wasn't today but she was already feeling nervous. A knock on the door startled her out of her trance.

"Yes?" She answered. Baekhyun came in and smiled.

"Hey Mae, you need to get ready for dinn- are you okay?!" He began to get alarmed after seeing her nervous, and about to cry, face.

"No! I'm scared! What the hell do I know about being a wife?! Or being in power?! THIS IS ALL GOING SO FAST!! And I have no family that's going to be there and-"

"Stop. You're already a perfect wife and you have been for a while now. Any vampire or human would be lucky to have you. And out of everyone in the entire world I can't think of anyone that's better to rule over a ton of monsters like us than you. And I'm your family. Chen and Kai are your family. All of us think of you as family and we will all be right there for you. So stop worrying and let's get you something to eat." He hugged her with a friendly non-sexual kind of love that she needed and in her head, no matter what happened, it was going to be okay.

"And if you ever want to leave... I WILL get you out. I will always be here for you as your best friend, Mae." He whispered. She pulled back from the hug and stared at him.

"Thank you. But I think I can do this now." She smiled.

"I know you can. Now get dressed because we're eating human food tonight!" He pulled out a dress from her suitcase and threw it at her face, leaving and shutting the door behind him.

—- later at dinner.

"How do you get full on this stuff Mae?" Chanyeol pokes his potatoes.

"Well I don't drink blood so I have to eat something." She laughed.
"Like it's good, it's just not satisfying. I'd much rather be biting down on Maes thigh than this dumb ass potato." Chanyeol poured again.

"What ever. Just eat!" She scolded back.

"So mae... what is your first plan as queen?" Suho asked. She just laughed it off and kept eating thinking it was a joke. After realizing no one else was still eating and they had stopped, she looked around at everyone.

"Are you kidding me? You're serious?!" She started to freak out.

"Well you are becoming queen. And the first human queen so it's kind of important that you have a plan on how to bridge the gap between our two peoples. You DO have a plan right?" Suho continued.

"NO OF COURSE I DONT HAVE A FUCKING PLAN!" She whisper yelled and slammed her fork back onto her plate.

"That's okay. She doesn't need to make and decisions right after the wedding anyways." Xiumin wrapped his arm around her and kissed her cheek.

"Are you serious xiumin?! Of course she will need an action plan! There are humans and vampires alike that have been slaughtered just because of the rift between our people and she has to be the connection! We as a family can't let her just go in blind! She will be killed!" Suho stood up yelling.

"We should save this for later." Baekhyun interjected.

"Fine. But we need to talk about this BEFORE I send my sister into the pits of hell." Suho sat back down and continued eating, still obviously furious.

"I NEED TO PEE!" Mae scooted back her chair and ran to the bathroom where she locked herself in a stall and threw up. After crying a little she stood up to wash her face in the sink when the lights went out.

"Hello?" She timidly asked.

Suddenly the mirror began bleeding. Blood dripped down from the corners and into the sink making Mae fall backwards in fright. She watched as the sink filled up with blood. Her heart if not already stopped was at a rapid rate.

What happened next would follow her through her darkest dreams.
The blood rippled as it spoke.

"Maebh. It's me. Your mother."

Hey guys. I'm terribly sorry for all the anger I've caused with not releasing this earlier but I have had school, work, a very sick sister, and am in the process of buying a house so it's been a lot on my plate and honestly writing was the last thing I was thinking about. I love everyone who has stayed with me through this and thank you so much.

As for the story, this WILL be the last book in this series but I urge you to read my new series "How to Serve Your Master". It's also an EXO fanfic but is a little different.
