The Crown Made Of Darkness

The sun had just set and the large Vatican church was already filled with clans from all over. News of the wedding had spread quickly and many vampires wanted to witness the first bridge between humans and vampires.

"Wow this place is really filling up..." Chen looked around the church as he sipped on some blood with Suho and DO.

"Yeah.... even Xiumins older brothers clans are here. And the old clan maes mother was in."

"Damn. Now that's some fucking tea." DO raised his glass and laughed.

Up at the alter where Xiumin was perfecting his vows, baekhyun came up to him and laid a hand on his shoulder, startling the older one.

"Just a small wedding huh?" Baek giggled.

"It's not funny! I didn't realize the entire fucking vampire species was gonna come to this thing! I don't know half of these people!" Xiumin looked around and pointed at a guy drinking a bud lite.

"IS THAT GUY EVEN A VAMPIRE?!" Xiumin yelled making baekhyun laugh and start massaging his hyungs shoulders.

"Calm down. It's fine. Plus chanyeol just texted me that he's here with Mae and she looks beautiful."

"THAT MAKES ME EVEN MORE NERVOUS!! WHAT THE FUCK MAN?!"

Suddenly the music started playing and everyone took a seat except for the priest, Xiumin, and baekhyun who was up at the alter as best man.

"Fuck this is really happening." Xiumin could barely contain his nerves but when the doors opened, nothing else mattered to him. He couldn't see anyone else.

She was exhilarating.

The full embodiment of royalty.

Dressed in an all black wedding dress with a long train, her face was almost bare of makeup which just made her natural features shine brighter, her hair was long and to the middle of her back and in had two thin little braids to hold it away from her face.  Chanyeol was following close behind to make sure the train of her dress stayed looking amazing. He was the man of honor since Baekhyun forced soojin to stay behind for protection reasons.

The crowd stood as she walked down the isle. Mae thought this would be the most difficult moment but it turned out to be the most empowering moment. She knew she could do this. She knew she wanted Xiumin for the rest of her life. She knew this was what she was born to do.

Finally at the alter, Xiumin gazed into her eyes.

"Thank you for gathering today for such a miraculous moment in the history of our two worlds. It's not every day that a human and a vampire find love within each other and..."

The priests voice faded away as Xiumin and Mae stared at each other. The speech went on but they could only hear the breath of one another. It seemed like only minutes until they reached the vows.

"And who will be giving this bride away?" The priest asked.

They finally tuned back in.

"I'm sorry what?" Mae asked.

"Where is the mother or father? Traditionally the bride must be given away. These traditions cannot be broken in a ceremony like this." The man reiterated. Mae looked panicked at Xiumin and back at baekhyun and chanyeol who were looking just as panicked. The crowd started to whisper.

"I will be giving my daughter away."

All attention was drawn to Lorena who stood up and walked to the alter.

The crowd whispered much louder now as many were shocked she was even alive let alone at her daughters wedding.

"Mom... I didn't think you would come." Mae hugged her mother tight.

"I told you I would see you soon. Well sir, let's get on with this wedding." Lorena smiled.

"Alright. Ma'am do you give you daughter to this man and allow her to serve as a beacon to him?"

"Yes."

"Thank you, you may step aside. Xiumin, you may now say the traditional vows."

Mae looked back to her groom. He has a crumpled paper shaking in his hands.

"Mae, I vow to you that I will be the balance to your life: the moon to your sun, the fire to your water, the calm to your chaos. I promise to stay by your side and be one with you through the end of time. I vow that I will be your protector and your knight." Xiumin was looking at the paper.

"Good, now Mae you-"

"One more thing." Xiumin shoved the paper in his pocket.

"What? There are no more vows for you sir." The priest whispered. Mae cocked her head in confusion. Suddenly Xiumin looked deep into Maes eyes.

"Mae, I love you. From the moment I saw you I knew you were special. I knew you were meant to be important. And so, as your husband, I promise that I will walk every path you decide to take. I will be your biggest supporter. I know you can do this."

Mae was already shedding tears by now. The priest sighed and continued with the ceremony.

"Mae, please say the vows given to you."

She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath.

"Xiumin, I vow to be your comfort. I promise to be there to wipe away your tears, to give you all I am and all I will be, to be a beacon to you in darkness. I vow to you that you will never be alone, for I will be there until I leave this world, and I will be there for you even after that."

"Please hold out your hands."

Xiumin stuck his out and Mae held hers out. He quickly noticed the large cut on her arm and looked at her concerned. "It's okay" she mouthed. Baekhyun handed a ceremonial knife to the priest and chanyeol handed to extremely small vials to Mae and Xiumin.

"To represent the bonding of two people, the bride and groom will have their blood blessed and given to one another. Xiumin please fill the vial."

Xiu kissed Maes hand and made a small slice just before letting her blood fill the thimble sized vial. And soon, Mae did the same. The priest read from a bible and blessed both vials.

"Mae, I give you this vial to represent my complete devotion to you."

"And Xiumin, I give you this vial to represent my complete devotion to you also."

They both finally looked at the man.

"Let it be known that on this day, these two have been married in front of the royal court of vampires and have been blessed. The bridge connecting our two species has been made. Xiumin, you may now kiss your-"

Xiumin wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him with force and passionately kissed her.

"...bride" the priest finished and rolled his eyes and the crowd clapped and cheered.

Later at the reception, Xiumin pulled chanyeol into a separate room and slammed him up against the wall.

"I know that was your work on her arm. I thought I was clear about this last time." Xiumin put a hand on chanyeols throat.

"She wanted to talk to her mom."

"SHE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO THAT KIND OF DARK MAGIC!" Xiumin yelled.

"I did what I had to do. You gonna kill me at your own wedding?" Chanyeol hissed back. Xiumin scoffed and let go.

"This is your last chance chanyeol. One more time and you're dead."
