The rest of the car ride was silent, and when they stopped in front of the clinic Peppers heart started beating faster when she thought of the poor dog again.

They went inside and Tony walked up to the receptionist.

"Hello, what can I help you with?" She asked.

"Hi, we're here for the, uh..." He became quiet as he started to think of what breed the dog might be. "The dog that just came in."

"Oh, you mean the German Sheperd? Quite lovely things those are, so sad to see one so hurt." The receptionist glanced off as if she remembered something. "Just take a seat and the vet will come out once they're done with her."

When they sat down it became quite and Pepper felt herself becoming drowsy as she hadn't slept at all this night.

Just as she was about to fall asleep a door opened, making her become awake with a jerk. She looked at the clock hanging on the wall and she saw that she had dozed off for nearly an hour. She looked and saw Tony standing up and she guessed he had been awake the whole time.

Tony stood up as a dark-skinned middle-aged man came out, his nametag saying:

Dr. Samuel Lincon
Veterinary

He was startled to see Tony Stark waiting for him.

"Mr. Stark, what can I help you with?" The vet asked, surprised.

"The dog, did she make it?" Tony asked, worry shining through his eyes and a tired look on his face.

The vet looked relieved that he was only here because of that. "She's stabilized, but we will keep her here until she's recovered."

Tony looked relieved and Pepper relaxed as she didn't have to fear for the dog's life anymore.

"I assume you were the ones to call us, yes?"

Pepper gave a quick nod and gave him a small smile.

"Well then I'm happy to tell you, you saved this dog's life. She would have been dead if you hadn't called when you did."

"That's a relief to hear," Pepper said.

"If you'd like I could call you when she's ready to be moved from here," Samuel said and Tony nodded so Pepper gave him her card.

After a little more small talk with the veterinary Tony and Pepper left to go back to the house, leaving the dog behind.

She woke up with a jerk and almost started panicking. When her sight cleared up she saw that her surroundings were different from anything she's ever seen before, and when she looked more clearly she also saw that she was locked in a cage.

Fear made its way through her body and left an unpleasant feeling in her stomach. 'How will I get out of here?'

When she tried to move she noticed that the wound on her neck was stitched up and her fur around it was shaved off.

She also noticed that she was drowsy and her movements were sluggish, meaning that she had probably been given some kind of medicine.

She let out a growl of the thought that she had actually needed help from the humans and she knew she had to be more careful towards other animals in the future.

After waiting for her healing to kick in so that the medicine was almost out of her system she stood up and tried to look for any way to open the door.
