I wake up to sound of a steady beeping and the pumping from machinery. I slowly open my eyes, the blazing white light causes me to squint but I know one thing. I am in hospital. I don’t know what happened the last thing I remember is the news…I look to my left and see a figure slumped down in a chair. I regret the sudden movement when a wave of nausea and pain hits me which cause me to groan. “Y/n! Thank god you are okay!” Benedict gushes grabbing onto my wrist, not wanting to let go.

“What happened?” I croak.

“I arrived home and you were on the floor not moving…blood around your head.” Benedict chokes on the verge of sobbing. “You wouldn’t wake up…” Tears escape his eyes and I tighten my grip on his hand. With my free hand I reach up and feel the tightly wrapped bandage around my head. I must have fallen and hit my head.

“Lucy!” I outburst and Ben shushes me gently.

“She’s okay. Tom’s got her.” There is a long pause. “What happened love?”

“I-I don’t know I…” I am trying to recollect what happened but it seems unclear. “I collapsed from the shock…I must have hit my head when I fell.”

“Shock of what love?” He asks, has he no idea?

“That he’s dead.”

“I don’t understand.” Benedict begins the look of confusion crosses his face. “You hated him! Love he-” Benedict takes a deep breath. “He raped you. Why did you cry?”

“He was the last thing I had of my mother.” I wipe away the stray tear that falls from my eye. “Now I have no one.” Benedict’s sadness is replaced with shock and anguish.

“You have me.” He states. “And Lucy!”

“I know…I mean my childhood, my past life.” I explain. “My mother died, my grandparents died, my father died and recently my best friend died.” I sigh deeply before the wave of nausea returns suddenly. “Ben the bowl!” I exclaim before vomiting across my bed sheets.

“Nurse!” The rising smell of warm vomit invades my nostrils causing me to become light headed. I pass out my head hitting the pillow.
