"I'm pregnant"

Those words left me speechless. Not only because they were surprising but also because they were going to become a concern. They fertility rate among lunas of any pack was lower then the average and that was a matter of concern. When ever the luna got pregnant, the pack members were both thrilled and worried.

Either they would get their next alpha among the triplets or pentaplets born from the luna or all of them would die in the womb or be still born, devastating the alpha couple as well as the pack.

Jules was well aware of this concept and was terrified beyond hell regarding pregnancy. She always dreamt of children but the thought of having to loose them was unimaginable and this haunted her above anything.

"I don't want to loose them Eve. I don't want to go through the trauma."

There was a mantra I always kept saying to myself during difficult times and that's what I told her.

"you don't have to, if you don't want to"

She looked at me confused "what?"

"Jules don't get me wrong but do you really want kids right now. You are young and still have time to plan them in later stage of life"

She said "you don't get it, do you. I want them. More than anything, I want to have them. The feeling of motherhood and the fact that something precious growing inside you is so beautiful. I'm excited that I'm pregnant and I don't want to loose them at any cost. Even it means risking my life " and by then tears were dripping down her face and she seemed completely miserable and that made me want to cry.

" Jules I'm gonna find a way out. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you or the buns in your oven" I chuckled and that made her smile and lighten a little bit.

"does flynn know?" I asked.

"I haven't told him yet. I don't want him to worry about me too. He already has a lot on his plate and with the werewolf council ranking packs and their superiority over other packs he is already tensed and anxious"

"When is it by the way.... the rankings and all"

"I have no idea. The alpha lycan seems to have difficulty deciding who gets to have veto powers over concerning matters. As if it even matters. Like its dictatorship under the pretext of democracy. All the actual power lies with alpha lycan"

"How many of them get to have the veto power"

"There are 6 packs in New Orleans and adiing the neighbouring cities it would add upto 15 packs and in tht only 5 alphas will have the power and tht too to challenge alpha lycan's decision only once"

"You think flynn will get the authority too? "

"Its hard to tell. Even he knows that it seems unlikely that he would....... considering our relations with the lycan and his pack aren't tht excellent"

"And what makes you say tht?"

"alpha lycan has been an active supporter of the blood moon pack and has always favored them instead of us and its likely that he will give the power to alpha Hugo"

Alpha hugo and his blood moon pack were at constant argument with our pack and flynn always tried to avoid a war with them and it was getting difficult by the day. They wanted more territory and since ours was the neighbouring pack they were constantly trying to seize our land.

"how did alpha lycan favor them? Didn't he like make them sign a treaty of peace?"

"yes he did and tht treaty cost us the best portion of our territory"
