"I...... What?" I teased him.

"oh come on... you know what" he said irritated.

"are you BLAKE ANDREW asking me Evelyin Anderson on a DATE?" I said exaggerating the word date.

"it's not a date. I just need a plus one. So will u come with me?" he asked getting impatient.

"Maybe, Maybe not...... But if you want to take Evelyin out on a DATE... Own it and do a better job in convincing her to go with you " referring to myself in third person.

"you think you are special" he said mocking me.

"oh honey, I know I am" I replied giving him a cheeky look.

He just shook his head and said "you are unbelievable"

"Un hun. I'm incredible. So who all are going to be there"

"mostly the officials. The alphas, his family, the betas and the third-in-command will be invited with their plus ones of all packs in the council and some human guests too... To show thm who is in charge  and to introduce the new members of council" Blake said.

"that's an awful lot of people with high ranks"

"I know and it's a big deal too."

"and where will it be held"

"I don't know. Most probably the Maelor's mansion"

"alpha lycan's ancestral house?"

"Yes and you will be glad to see it. Its spectacular and unique"

"looking forward to it" I said wondering about it.

As I lay on my bed and stared at the ceiling of my newly organised room, millions of thoughts ran through my mind.

My research work tht starts tomorrow and it deadline. Paralia paradise and flynn giving it away without asking me....Blake asking me out. Alpha lycan being extremely generous all of a sudden and giving flynn the power when it was apparent that alpha Hugo was going to get it and his relation with alpha lycan strained because of it. Making flynn the alpha in charge.... All of it.

Blake and flynn were happy that I got the permission to carry on with my research and could stay here. Jules wanted a separate pack party after the soiree on Saturday and had already made plans for it.

Tomorrow was my first day at work and I could not sleep at all. I had a lot to do in so less time.

"Wakey, Wakey babe" I heard Blake's annoying voice as he entered my room.

I was half asleep and not in a mood to argue.

"Blake. Go. Away. And have u heard the phrase called knock before you enter"

"oh I have darling. Do you want me to show you" and started banging my bedroom door. Keyword being BANGING not KNOCK.

"BLAKE PLEASE"

"OK sorry princess.... Get up now ....it already 7:00. You are suppose to meet the head of research department by 8:00."

"its 7:00" eyes wide open looking at the clock and indeed it was 7 and not Blake joking around.

"Oh god, I need to bath, have my breakfast, select a outfit and reach the head quarters before 8:00" I fretted

"it's OK cupcake. Why to worry when Blake Andrew is here. Go freshen up. I will bring ur breakfast to your bedroom and then we can select a outfit"

"You are the best, Blake Andrew"

"I know I am"

By 7:30 I was bathed, well fed and in my outfit for today. It was ina a white sleeveless collar shirt and grey jeans and slip on floral blue canvas shoes. My hair were tied in a ponytail and with little mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss, I was ready to go.

"Thank you Blake for helping me on my first day"

"anything for you, love"

I fooled my eyes on the nicknames he gave me and as I went downstairs I saw flynn ready to leave.

"are you going to the head quarters" I asked flynn.

"Yes I have some work to finish. Do u want me to drop you".

"Hell yes"

I turned towards flynn who was driving a audi A4. Men and expensive cars had a deep connection.

"Yes, but I don't know if I can live up to the expectations" I said.

"I know you will. I trust you"

Since he was talking about trust, I remembered something.

"Flynn, jules said that you gave away a portion of paralia paradise to alpha Hugo and his pack"

He sighed " I had to Eve. It was either that or the training arena."

"You never thought of asking me atleast once"

"Eve, tht place was our past and we had to let go eventually. The sooner the better. "

"Tht place was our childhood Flynn. We used to go there with mom and dad every weekend and what about the house on the cliff. The memories we created and...."

"the place where our parents died, where we were orphaned. I gave away tht part of the land too"

"Flynn I don't care. I want it back" I shouted.

"Eve stop holding onto the past and survive in the present. It belongs to alpha Hugo now. Let. It. Go" he said angrily

"Flynn, but.. " I pleaded

He stopped the car and I noticed tht we were parked near the head quarters.

"I don't want to continue this conversation and it's gone long before you came so just give up..... You are getting late and so am I" he said stepping out of the car and waited for me to get out.

Arguing with Flynn was of no use. He was adamant and so was I. I just had to find a way to get it back and I knew whom to talk to , but I let go of tht topic for now. As I entered the HQ I was appointed a guide who direct me where to go and once I reached the research department I realised how huge it was and so sophisticated. The HQ has 16 floors and the top most was the lycan's office that I was kicked out of.

Typical dick move.

I was introduced to the head Mr. Varys and his staff members. He and his team would provide me and assist me with all the equipments and the materials I required for my research. It included all the blood samples of all the alphas and their mate and its analysis for fertility factors.

Since it was my first day it went on ok-ish.

I headed to the cafeteria in the HQ during lunch break and placed an order for coffee and cheese sandwich.

As I took my order and was about to sit somewhere I saw Blake waving at me. I headed to his table and sat beside him. There were a group of people with him. Some were from our pack  and some I didn't recognise. So Blake introduced me.

"Guys this is Evelyin, alpha Flynn's sister"

"I didn't know she was still here. Wasn't her research rejected and she was asked to leave right?" a blonde spoke.

"no my research was accepted and I'm staying for your information" I blunt out.

"Eve, this is Jessica. My..... Friend"

Jessica stared at Blake as if horns had grown on his head

"Friend!!! " she exclaimed

She seem hurt. I could see that in her eyes. I don't know what happened but it felt like she was losing control of her wolf side and she abruptly left the table right after giving me a deathly glare.
