Marinette shivered as a cool breeze brushed past her, causing her pigtails to twirl in the wind.
“Tikki..” Marinette gripped the strap of her purse. “Is this really a good idea?”  Tikki peeked her head out of Marinette’s purse and gave her a reassuring smile.
“Of course it is! It will let Adrien know that you’re thinking of him!” Tikki chirped. Marinette hugged the coat she had made for Adrien closer to her chest and took in a shaky breath.
“Ok! You’re right, Tikki. Adrien needs to know his friends are there for him!” Marinette gave Tikki a confident smile before pressing the buzzer on the gate.
“What do you want?” Marinette recognized the voice as Nathalie's, Gabriel’s assistant.
“Ummm, hi! I’m Marinette. I’m one of Adrien’s friends and I br-”
“Go away, Adrien isn’t taking any visitors right now.” Nathile cut her off. She sounded very annoyed, which caused Marinette to be annoyed. She glared at the speaker.
“I don’t need to see him, I’m j-”
“Look, I don’t care. Please go away.” The speaker crackled.
“Hello?” Marinette suspected Natalie had turned it off, and when her suspicions were confirmed, she huffed and turned away. “Can you believe that? She wouldn’t even talk to me.”
“Its okay, Marinette! Maybe you can text him about it.” Tikki said, peering out of Marinette’s purse.
“Text him!” Marinette giggled at the thought. Her? Text Adrien? Could you imagine?
Suddenly, a boy in a bright red skin tight suit jumped in front of Marinette.
“I am the CONNECTOR! I’m here to stop bad wifi signals!” He posed dramatically before throwing a car and flying away. Marinette sighed before running to a nearby alleyway. Tikki zoomed out of her bag and, with some reluctance, Marinette transformed.
Ladybug leapt out of the alleyway, ready for a fight to take her mind off Adrien. Ladybug swung towards the destruction that the Connector was causing, and when she could see him, she called Chat Noir. Ladybug growled in annoyance when he didn’t answer.
She crouched on a roof and watched the Connector. She figured out that his akuma was in the smart watch he was wearing, which he used to shot out purple beams to turn people into walking, talking robots that would stop at nothing to get her miraculous.
“Sorry I’m late, m’lady.” Chat Noir dropped next to her on the roof and Ladybug jumped in surprise. Her movement caused the Connector to notice her, and he sent his robots after them. Chat Noir smirked at her as they leapt to another rooftop, and Ladybug glowered.
“Where were you?” She asked, swinging her yoyo and backing away from a robot person. Chat Noir’s fanciful expression dropped for a moment before he formulated a response.
“I was er- I got caught up.” Chat Noir pushed away a person with his staff. Ladybug glanced at him suspiciously, but decided that talking wasn’t the best thing to do in the middle of a swarm of robot people.
“Okay, follow me!” Ladybug swung her yoyo towards the Eiffel Tower, where she could see the Connector sending out purple beams. Chat Noir followed her without comment, and the pair quickly defeated the Connector.
“Miraculous Ladybug!” Ladybug threw the broken watch and smiled at the pink beams the swarmed around everything the got destroyed and the robot people. She turned back to Chat Noir and held out her fist.
“Pound it!” They said in unison. Ladybug’s earrings beeped, and she covered them with a hand for a moment.
“Well, I have to go Kitty. Want to come out and pattrol tonight?” Ladybug asked as she threw her yoyo, getting ready to depart. Chat Noir blushed slightly under his mask, and Ladybug tilted her head at him.
“I um, well.” Chat Noir laughed nervously, and his ring blipped, signaling it was time for him to go too. “I have plans tonight. Sorry bugaboo.” Chat Noir waved at her before throwing out his staff and disappearing into the sunset. Ladybug blinked after him, her stomach suddenly feeling uneasy as she swung away.
Too busy for me? Ladybug thought before pushing the selfish thought away. Why did she care if Chat had plans more important than her, anyways? She’s stood him up many times, why would it be any different now?
