Chat Noir leapt over the railing on Marinette’s balcony, and Marinette, who had been sitting on her balcony with a book, stared at him with surprise.
“Chat Noir?” Marinette stood up, and Chat smiled at her. “What are you doing here?”
“Can’t I come see my favorite princess?” Chat purred, and Marinette felt a sudden twinge on annoyance.
“Do you have any other ‘princesses’?” Marinette tossed him a sly grin and Chat just smiled at her, though she wasn’t sure it reached his eyes. “Shouldn’t you be out protecting Paris right now? Surely that's more interesting than me.”
“Ladybug can handle anything that happens and besides,” Chat Noir reached out for Marinette’s hand. “You are far more interesting than any super villain.”
“Is that so?” Marinette asked quietly as she let Chat Noir pull her close. He twirled her, and Marinette was hit with the sudden realization that she was Chat Noir’s plans. Which meant that Chat Noir would rather hang out with her than Ladybug.
Chat Noir started humming, gently swaying with her as if they were dancing. He hummed louder as he dipped Marinette, and she glared up at him but Chat Noir could see the playfulness in her eyes.
“What is going on with you?” Marinette asked when Chat pulled her back up, and Marinette pulled away.
“I like coming here.” Chat Noir shrugged. “It’s a good stress reliever.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Marinette stared at Chat Noir, her amusement turning to annoyance. Who did he think he was, coming to her bedroom in the dead of night?
“I mean, you’re such a good friend, Marinette. It’s like I can say anything and you won’t judge me.” Chat rubbed the back of his neck, keeping his eyes on her shoes. “At home, I’m not really allowed to do much of anything. I feel trapped and controlled. But here, with you, I feel free.”
“What about Ladybug?”
“Oh, Ladybug.” a goofy smile spread across Chat's face. “Ladybug is amazing. I just, I feel like I embarrass myself around her. She actually invited me to hang out with her tonight.”
“Really?” Marinette did her best to sound like this was news to her.
“Yeah. That’s actually another reason I came here.” Chat was blushing slightly, his hands fidgeting with his gloves.
“Oh?” Marinette tilted her head at Chat.
“Yeah, I mean I want to do something nice for her. Something that won’t push the boundaries of our friendship but I also want her to know that I want to be serious with her.” Chat’s blush covered his whole face, or at least what Marinette could see, and he rubbed the back of his neck. “Y’know, something like you did for that boy? With the coat?”
“Oh, well Chat-” A loud crash from the Eiffel Tower cut Marinette off, and the pair turned to look. Marinette could hear people screaming, and she inwardly groaned.
“I have to go.” Chat Noir turned to her, and Marinette tried to hide her urgency to leave. “Stay here, okay? I’ll be right back.” Chat jumped over the railing, and Marinette waited until he was out of her field of vision.
“Tikki! Spots on!” Marinette transformed into Ladybug. When Ladybug met up with Chat Noir at the top of Eiffel Tower, they were both breathless.
“Two akumas in one day?” Chat Noir gave her a confused look and Ladybug just shrugged. The akuma victim was wearing bright blue spandex and had bright orange hair. She was throwing lightning bolts and apparently she was the weather girl and her prediction was wrong, which caused the station to fire her. Her akuma was in her umbrella, which she was shooting her bolts out of.
Suddenly the akuma girl turned towards them. She pointed at them with the end of her umbrella.
“I am Lucky Strikes and I’m going to rain down on you!” She declared, firing a bolt of lightning at them. The two heros easily dodged and hid behind an upturned car.
“Uh oh, m’lady, looks like we have quite the storm on our paws.” Chat grinned at her but Ladybug rolled her eyes, disappointed in the quality of his pun. Ladybug peeked out at Lucky Strikes, who was now climbing up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Thick, heavy clouds filled the sky and bolts of lightning shot up from where Lucky Strikes stood at the top of the tower.
“The akuma must be in her umbrella.” Ladybug pulled out her yoyo, before glancing at Chat who was watching her with wide eyes. “Let’s get this over with quickly. LUCKY CHARM!” the polka dotted object fell into Ladybug's hands, and with a quick look around, a plan was formulated.

“Pound it!” Ladybug and Chat Noir collapsed on the Eiffel Tower their legs dangling off the edge. They were both exhausted from both school the very frequent akuma attacks, they were barely keeping up with the pressure. Not to mention the new, confusing feelings they were both having.
“I’m sorry the akuma attack interfered with your plans.” Ladybug broke the silence, casting Chat Noir a side glance.
“Its okay.” Chat Noir leaned forward and chuckled. “I was trying to do something for you.”
“Oh?” Ladybug tilted her head at him. “What do you mean?” Chat Noir just shook his head.
“You’ll see soon.” He chirped. Ladybug’s earrings blipped, and she stood up.
“Bye, Kitty.” Ladybug swung away, eager to get home and go to sleep. She thought she heard Chat Noir yell something after her, but she wasn’t sure.
“I love you.”
