the car ride was bumpy and unpleasant for rosé yet it was the last thing on her mind. she was too excited to think about anything. no, she was nervous. but that didn't describe how she was feeling either.

probably less than 5 minutes ago, rosé got a call from her doctor. they told her it was good news. immediately she had jumped in the nearest taxi, only leaving the simple "ill be back dont worry" for her unnie's.

rosé had new heard the word good news come from her doctor. not once. so this was new to her. this feeling that couldn't be described was bubbling inside of her.

a visible smile was on her face. it lit up the whole country.

ich, ich

rosé hit her chest a couple times to try and rid of the hiccups that suddenly came to her. they bothered her and she didn't want them. she didn't know why they were there.

this is it, she thought. they would her that they found a cure. or that they could extend her lifetime for a longer amount of time. but she scolded herself.

she wouldn't let herself be too happy, too optimistic, because the disappointment could ruin her.

perhaps her expectations had been too high, rosé thought. with every step nearing to her doctors office, she could feel her heart grow heavy.

he was waiting for her outside his office, "ah, chaeyoung you've made it! you must be excited of course." he said once she approached him.

rosé wanted to say yes but no at the same time. the words were caught in her throat, so instead of saying anything she just nodded with a smile.

ich, ich

she frowned, hit her chest a couple times, and stepped in his office that looked the exact same every time she visited. it was a small room with a large desk, book shelves, rug, and sofa. it was very welcoming but not her favorite place to be at.

she took her usual seat and stared at the doctor with eager eyes. he chuckled and took a seat across from her, glancing at the folder of papers in his hand.

"rosé do you remember when i told you there was another way for you to stay alive?" he asked

rosé look at him with surprise, "do you mean..they found a cure?"

he smiled down at her and shifted in his seat. she thought his smile didn't seem like his usual ones but sadder and grave.

"no chaeyoung, im talking about the surgery. at first i thought no because your condition is different from others and surgery would also bring attention from your fans, but i looked in to i-" he began

"uncle!" rosé cried out as she interrupted him

her uncle looked at her sadly then closed his open mouth. he took several deep breaths before speaking once more. rosé listened without interrupting.

"chae, please. i know you dislike the idea of the surgery but i cant let you die! your parents would kill me, especially since they still dont even know. and i..i cant fail you chaeyoung-ie,"

rosé blinked away the tears forming in her eyes. she stared straight at her uncle who had been her uncle for the past 7 months. it was very hard for her because it wasn't a stranger she was talking to, but a family member.

"i'm sorry but i cant uncle. i'd rather live the next year and a half doing whatever i want then going in the operating room and possibly never coming out again. i just can't, at least not until i finish the show," she told him in a trembling and unsteady voice

"chaeyoung-ah! please! the longer you wait, the smaller the chance you have of surviving. don't do this to your mom, dad, friends. please," he begged

rosé couldn't hold it anymore and cried unwillingly.

"uncle! please dont bring them into this! i wont do it! i wont do it!" she screamed while thrashing in the sofa

aware of her condition, her uncle ran to her side and tried to calm her down. he hugged her while she sobbed violently. he had always treated like a daughter.

rosé was losing her breath and a pain was developing in her chest.

"im scared uncle," she whispered

he nodded while also trying to hold back his tears. he knew that if she didn't agree she would be doomed but he couldn't force her.

"i understand chae but please think about it. the longer this goes on the more pain you will be in," he cooed

she shook her head against his chest. her hiccups were lost in her tantrum.

"no uncle, everyone dies at one point. my death will just be sooner,"
