My eyes flutter open and I stretch in my bed. I grab my phone and see that it's 9:03 am, a decent time to wake up on a Saturday.
I go through my morning routine then make my way to the kitchen. I'm in the mood for some waffles.
I take my phone and put on some music. I do everything better when there's music playing. I round up all the ingredients I need for the batter and get to work. Once I'm satisfied with the batter I go get some eggs to scramble and some bacon to cook.
As I'm cooking I hear Max call out, "Mom?"
"It's just me", I answer.
"Smells amazing in here."
"Good."
He leans by the stove, "I love you."
I chuckle, "I love you too."
"I was talking to the bacon. But, yeah, I love you too Lil."

"This place always makes me feel like a little kid", Dani says.
"You are a little kid", I laugh.
"You know what I mean", she counters as she shoves me playfully.
"Where's Anne? She never responded to my texts", I ask.
We find a spot to sit and wait for Anne.
"I'm going to call her." Dani whips out her phone and dials Anne. After a few seconds Dani asks, "Hey, where are you?"
I'm assuming Anne responds with bad news based on the expression on Dani's face.
"Oh Annie. Well, I hope she feels better. We're going to miss you." Dani hangs up.
"What's wrong? Who's sick?", I ask with concern.
"Her mom, she's got food poisoning or something. Anne's going to be taking care of her, so she won't be joining us today."
I frown. "Oh man, that sucks."
"Come on, let's go walk around." Dani stands and starts to lead us in no particular direction.
As we're strolling around I take note of the rides I want to get on. The octopus and the Kamikaze are at the top of my list.
"We're probably going to end up getting on all of the rides. Why do we bother looking around?", Dani asks with a laugh.
I shrug and chuckle. "Let's go get tickets."
Dani and I head over to the ticket booth. On the way I look around at all the people here. Lots of happy kids with their parents trying to keep up with them. I find a few familiar faces from school, and...
I pat Dani's arm. "Hey look. It's Dylan and-"
"Aaron!", Dani shouts. It successfully catches Aaron's attention. He and Dylan make their way over to us.
I'm a bit surprised by Dani. I knew they were talking, but as I look at her watching him come closer to us, I can tell that she really likes him.
"Hey guys", says Dylan.
"Hi", Dani and I say in unison.
"How are you?", Dani asks Aaron.
"Good. My dad wanted to bring my little sister and I to hang here for a while", he replies. "Now that we are both here, I kind of want to steal you away." He flashes a big cheesy smile.
Dani giggles. Giggles! She then looks at me with a strained face.
"Go", I whisper and nudge her toward Aaron.
