"A-are you okay Rudi?" River asked carefully as she noticed the way he was sweating. He looked nervous for some strange reason and she didn't like the look on his face.
He avoided eye contact with her as he nodded, his gaze falling to her small hand that was clutching a glass of water.
"I'm sorry about my ex-girlfriend," he said quietly.
She smiled sadly and placed her glass down on the coffee table. "It's okay. It wasn't your fault." To reassure him, she reached out and put her hand over his arm. She frowned as she noticed him tense up and then relax. "I hope you find someone that really, truly loves you. You deserve it Rudi."
He smiled slightly and used his other hand to give hers a squeeze while his eyes stayed trained to her small hand. "Thank you River."
She awkwardly pulled her hand away when he continued to hold it as he thought.
"What were you thinking about?" she asked softly, cocking her head to the side.
He looked up at her and she almost flinched at the sad look in his eyes. She wished she had never made eye contact but it was too late now.
"What's wrong?" She asked softly.
"I know this is strange," he started as his eyes fell down to her small bump. "But... can i feel your baby."
She bit her lip in thought before shrugging and scooting over on the small couch. "Sure."
He got off his chair and plopped down beside her before awkwardly staring down at her tummy, his hand raised in the air.
She giggled before grabbing his hand and slowly bringing it down on her bump.
"Wow," he breathed, a huge smile lighting up his face and showing off his braces. "The baby's so small."
"Yeah," she laughed softly as he looked up at her with a boyish look on his face. "The baby is small."
He bit his lip before looking back down at her tummy. "You're small too," he whispered as he ran his hand over her bump.
"Um... I guess I am," she said unsurely.
"You're really beautiful, you know that, right?" he asked as he ran his fingers through the long strands of hair hanging near her waist. "Inside and out. Hayze is really lucky to have you. I hope I find someone like you one day."
Not knowing what to say, she smiled up at him before standing up from the couch.
"Wait," he said as he sprung up off the couch. "I just..."
The sad look was back in his eyes and he was starting to pace and run his hand through his hair. "What's wrong Rudi?"
He stopped in front of her and his eyes shot up to meet hers. "Can I just-"
River's eyes widened as Rudi's lips were suddenly on hers, his big hands holding her lower back gently as he walked them back towards the wall, trapping her there. She tried to squirm away, her arms felt too weak too push him away.
A wave of sadness hit her when she realized she was letting a man take advantage of her. Again.
She whimpered against his lips as his kiss got more urgent and he hurriedly pulled back with wide eyes.
"Sh~t River, I am so f~cking sorry. I don't know what got int-"
She screamed as Hayze suddenly came out of no where and pushed him to the ground.
"What the f~ck. You f~cking bastardo," he growled as he pulled Rudi off the ground by his collar and he slammed him harshly against the wall Rudi had just pinned her too. "Pensavo fossi mio fratello. F~cking traitor."
(I thought you were my brother.)
River was frozen in shock at the amount of venom laced in each of Hayze's words. She couldn't find it in her to move even when Hayze threw a punch at Rudi's cheek.
"Don't you dare touch my wife. She's mine. Not yours. I married her. She's carrying my baby." He punched him again. "I can't f~cking believe you would do something like this. My right hand man," he scoffed as he dropped him to the ground. "You're no friend of mine if you're taking advantage of my bella rosa. Get out of here before I beat the life out of you!"
Rudi scrambled off the ground and backed away slowly, a look of pain in his eyes. "I-i'm sorry Hayze. I- Fuck! I don't know how that happened." His hands gripped his hair as he stumbled back into another wall. "I-I F~cking hell! What the hell is wrong with me?"
"Get the f~ck out!"
Rudi looked up from his shoes and River felt for him when she noticed the tears in his eyes. "Hayze, just know that I am sorry."
"I don't care. Leave and don't come back here. You crossed a line I trusted you to stay behind," Hayze growled, his fists clenching. River stepped up to him and curled her arms around one of his muscular ones and he immediately untensed.
"No Hayze. Please. You guys are all I have," he pleaded and River's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Everyone leaves. You two are the only ones that haven't and I'm the one that's messed it up. It won-"
"Get the f~ck out!"
