Camila Cabello hated surprises. She hated them with every fibre of her being. Because they're unpredictable. Uncertain. Uncontrollable. And that's what she fears most. Uncertainty. Camila prefers to always be in control, and always know what is going to happen. She knows all the people in her life, and she knows how to predict them. Hence, she hates meeting new people. But then she meets someone. Someone that helps her. Someone that gets her thinking. Someone that makes her think surprises aren't so bad after all.

Lauren POV

"Dinahhhh I don't want to go to this dumb party, I'm tired!" I groaned, flopping onto our couch.

'Cheer up Laur, you're gonna meet some of my friends from Miami! You'll love them, trust me." Dinah said as she pulled me up. 'Plleeeaaaaasssssseeeeeee?' she begged, making puppy eyes at me.

I rolled my eyes and begrudgingly dragged my feet up the stairs to get changed for Dinah's dumb party. I stared at my wardrobe blankly for 5 minutes, eventually deciding on a little black dress.

20 minutes later I was walking into the party with a very hyper Dinah and a very tired brain

20 minutes later I was walking into the party with a very hyper Dinah and a very tired brain.

"Camila! Mani, Ally! Lucy, Vero!" She yelled incredibly loudly, right in my ear. "Look, Laur it's my friends I was telling you about!" She motioned them over, and I smiled at one of them as they came towards us.

'Everyone, this is Lauren." I pulled my lips into another smile as they greeted me.

"This is Lucy, Ally, Normani, and Camila." Dinah introduced us. I noticed Dinah's eyes linger slightly longer on the girl she introduced as Normani, and I smirked. Then I noticed the girl next to her. Camila, I remembered. She was incredibly beautiful, with long dark hair and the most enticing brown eyes. Although I couldn't help but notice she seemed slightly overwhelmed with all these people. My observations were interrupted by a sharp poke to my ribs.

"Rude!" I complained, looking up at the culprit, which was Dinah, of course. I rolled my eyes at her and she shrugged. "Let's dance!" She yelled loudly, slurring her words slightly. How was she already drunk? We'd been here all of ten minutes!

A few hours later, I appeared to be the only one who wasn't drunk. 'Smallz!' Dinah shouted at Ally, who I had observed to be the mum friend of their group. "Let's do some shots!" Dinah yelled again in her direction. Ally then rushed over to Dinah to make sure she didn't get any more drunk that she already was. She was still incredibly careful and caring, even while drunk. I watched amusedly as Dinah pouted at Ally, and dragged her to where Normani was and started dancing. I noticed that there was one person that I hadn't seen in a while, and that was Camila. She intrigued me. I remembered back to the beginning of the night when she seemed a little bit overwhelmed, and I decide to go find her and check on her.

After checking quickly around the house, I concluded she had to be outside. I wondered what she was doing out there in the dark, and it was a pretty cold night too. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure on the veranda.

"Camila?' I asked, opening the doors. The cold brushed over my skin and I immediately felt goosebumps on my skin. Then I noticed that Camila's silhouette was shaking. I approached her, and gently placed my hand on her shoulder. She turned to face me, and the sight I was met with was heartbreaking, even though I'd only met this girl a few hours prior. She was hyperventilating, her whole body was shaking, and tears were pouring down her cheeks and ruining her makeup.

"Hey, its okay, just breathe in, breathe out, you'll be okay, everything going to be fine, I promise." I soothed, trying to comfort her. Seeing this was mostly ineffective, I placed my hand on her heart, and gently took her hand and placed it on my heart.

"Feel my heartbeat? Try to get yours to match mine. Breath in time with me, and you'll be okay." We stayed like that for fifteen minutes, until she had calmed down and was breathing properly.

"Are you okay?" I asked, and she nodded and wrapped her slender arms around me in a hug. I held her, and she whispered a thank you into my neck. We release from our hug, and Camila says "I think I'm just going to go home and rest for a bit."

An idea blossoms in my brain, and I share it with her. "How about we go back to my apartment and watch a movie or something? I didn't really want to come to this party anyway."

'Are you sure?' Camila asks. "I don't want to intrude."

I reassure her, and her features light up. 'Thank you! I didn't really want to be alone tonight anyway, and Mani is going to be here all night."

I tell her to wait while I go and tell Ally our plan, who is the least drunk out of the three of them. Then we're walking to my car, and I'm asking Camila how she met Dinah.

When we get back to my apartment, we know sufficiently more about each other. Camila immediately collapses onto my couch, and I laugh at her. "Hot chocolate?" I offer.

"Hmm, let me think. That's a hard one, how about... 100 % yes please!"

I laugh again, and this time so does she. I like her laugh. It's cute, and it makes me want to make her laugh more often.

"Okay, I have to get changed first, but you can choose a movie while I make them." I throw the remote at her, and it lands on her leg, which causes her to gasp in fake offence.

"Whatever, goofball." She giggles, and I roll my eyes jokingly.

'Uno hot chocolate for you, miss!"

"Gracias." She replies, and I laugh.

"Which movie have you chosen?"

'Harry Potter!" She yells excitedly.

'Sweet.' I reply, and soon enough the credits start.

After two hours, the movie is finished, and Camila is sleeping peacefully beside me.

"Camz," I whisper, trying not to wake her up too harshly.

"I'M HOME BITCHES" Dinah yells, slamming the door. I wince. So much for waking Camila up softly. I glance down at her, but shockingly, she's still heavily sleeping. Dinah comes into the living room where we're lying on the couch and sees us snuggled together. She makes a suggestive face, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Shut up, Dinah. Also, how do I make Camila wake up? I think she's dead."

Dinah doesn't respond and instead starts tickling the sleeping princess. I guess that's one way to go by it.

Camila shrieks loudly, right in my ear, and I swear I go deaf for a second.

'Mila's awake!" Dinah announces to the whole apartment.

'Yes thank you, Dinah, for that critical piece of information that we did not already know,' Camila yawns.

I giggle at her, and she looks at me with the most beautiful smile. Dinah drags Camila off my couch, to which Camila starts grumbling.

'C'mon Chancho, let's get your ess home. I'm calling you an uber."

"Dinah, you're drunk!"

"Hence the uber, Laur! I'll take it too, don't you worry your pretty little face!"

I roll my eyes, calling the uber for them, since Camila is half asleep, and Dinah is too drunk to remember.

"Are you sure you don't just want to crash at mine?" I offer, but Dinah brushes me off with some incomprehensible reasoning.

'Ok, Dinah. Bye. Bye Camz!'

I watch as Camila turns around and gives me a sleepy wave. She looks so adorable with her hair all messy and no makeup.

No, why am I thinking these things about Camila? We're just friends, and we only met tonight! I cannot have a crush on this girl!
