So I was walking along the (nearly empty) coridoors with Amara and some of her friends and I noticed something. Our shoes squeak. I had noticed this before but this particular time it made me realise something. When you walk alone in an empty coridoor, your shoes squeak so loudly that the sound fills the intire area. When you walk in a small group, the sound is there, but it is very dull. When the entire corridor is full, you don't hear a thing. The sound is drowned out.

The squeak is our individuality.

If you walk alone in a place where no one else is walking, you stand out a lot more.

If you walk in a small group where not many people are walking, you stand out a bit but its not just your squeak. You are sharing the sound with whoever youre walking with.

When the entire hall full, no one hears your sound. Because they're too busy looking after themselves and most of the time they dont even notice their own sound. They are too busy fitting in.

A person alone (in some situations) makes more noise than even a small group. Look at jackSepticeye for example. He is almost always alone in his videos so we know most of his quirks. We know him. From his favourite colour to his favourite game.

Now take a look at The Try Guys. We know them pretty well, but not as well as we know JackSepticeye. They dull eachothers squeaks.

Now look at the fans of each of these. they all drown eachother out. Some get noticed more than others, but normally its not for them, yes, they write fanfics or draw fanart. Most of the time they only get heard because of the people they look up to. People who read their fanfics or admire their fanart don't know the artists. They only know the people featured in them.

This is one of the reasons why I focus (mostly) on my original stories. I dont want to be drowned out by all the noise. I want them to know me as Melontastic, the author of The Four Elementals. Not a "Hey check out this fanfic I found last night,". Thats not me. No shade to fanfic writers though. You guys do you.

"Those who walk alone find themselves in places no one has ever been before,"-Albrt Einstein.
