I lean on the couch staring out of the living room window. I patiently wait for the mailman to appear and stuff my letter from Ryerson University in Toronto. I have been sitting in this position for far too long that my knees begin to ache. When finally I recognize the man in blue coming up the street from the Williams' house, I start making my way out the door. I do not even give him the chance to place the piles of mail in the box when I immediately greet him.
"Good afternoon, Autumn." he simply greets me before handing me the stack of envelopes.
I thank him then rush back into the house and close the door behind me. "Mom! Dad! The mail is here!" I holler.
Just a couple of seconds after I can hear my parents' footsteps treading down the staircase. Mom is in front with Dad following behind her. She grasps the pile of envelopes out of my hands and begins to toss them to the side one by one. Until she comes to a stop when she holds the envelope from the university.
"What does it say?" Dad tries to peek over Mom's shoulder.
"I do not know yet, dear. Maybe Autumn can open this herself." with a transcendent smile on her face Mom returns the sandy envelope to me.
I offer an uneasy look. I am nervous as I mutter, "Alright this is the moment of truth."
Slowly I rip the paper open and feel my parents observing me with unnerving stares. There is a piece of paper, the acceptance letter, inside the brown packaging which is neatly folded. After I unfold it I put it on the kitchen counter and Mom starts to read it out loud:

We congratulate you on the acceptance of your application for the degree course in Neuroscience. You are requested to report to the faculty Dean by the 6th of July at 14h00 with all your necessary documents to complete the admission formalities.

Mom stares at me with wide eyes. Dad and I jump up and down feeling elevated due to the extremely good news we have just received. Mom pulls us into a hug shouting - "My baby has been accepted to Ryerson University!"
