A/N: Helloooo! Here's chapter 4, I hope you like it. Not sure when the road to verona'll be updated I'm still sorting out the next chapter. I reckon it might be a while but then there'll probably be a few at once. Hopefully this'll help to tide you over.
When I walk back to my room I can hear voices through the door so I assume that Kirstie is still speaking to Scott. When I knock though I'm surprised to see James open the door. "Don't worry bro we'll give you your alone time. Just try not to be too loud." He pats me on the back and walks out of the room, Ella trailing behind him grinning. Kirstie's shuffling around a bit and looking down at her phone. "I'm sorry if they made you uncomfortable." She looks at me and smiles but it doesn't quite reach her eyes. I sit down on the bed next to her. "They weren't too bad. They were just asking me a load of stuff about how we got together and it just got a bit intense."
"I'm sorry you had to deal with that." She shrugs "It's ok honestly, it was just a bit awkward."
"Come here you." I open my arms and she cuddles into my chest. "I just felt quite out of my depth that's all." I use one of my hands to stroke her hair, enjoying the way it feels soft against my skin. "I won't leave you alone with them next time."
"You just have to stay by my side at all times." I laugh softly and then on impulse lean down to kiss her hair. "I can live with that."We start getting ready for bed shortly afterwards and it's odd but it already feels normal to move around each other to grab clothes and put things in the right place for her. We take it in turns to go to the bathroom and while she's in there I climb into the bed and start to get comfortable. She walks back in and takes off her glasses and then reaches up to pull her hair into a bun. Her shirt tugs up so that I can see the lower part of her stomach. It's literally just a bit of her skin but for some reason I can't stop staring. I've seen her in a bikini before so it shouldn't be so overwhelming but there's something so intimate about her being here in my room like this about to get into my bed. "You ok?" Her question helps me to snap out of it and I smile shakily. "Yep. Just tired."
"Well, I am ready so I'll just get the light." She crosses the room and flicks the light switch and then carefully walks back across the room and climbs into the bed.She lies down facing me and after about half a minute I can make out her features in the darkness. "I am really sorry that happened." She sighs. "Don't be."
"Just out of curiosity what did you say when they asked you how we got together?"
"Well we never actually agreed on anything so I improvised."
"Ok."
"I told them that it wasn't a big deal. That we just gradually realised that we liked each other and then started dating. I had to invent some romantic moments as well so if they ask you about the picnic or the time you serenaded me then pretend you know what they're talking about."
"Oh right so those are your ideal romantic moments then."
"I could lie and say that they're just obvious clichés that happened to come into my head but I actually find things like that adorable."
"I'll make sure to keep that in mind." I can't see that well in the dark but I think she might be blushing. "Shut up. Goodnight Avi." I shuffle closer to her and wrap my arms around her slowly, giving her a chance to pull away if she wants to. She doesn't. "Goodnight Kirstie."We wake up earlier this time. I go and shower first and it's gratifying to see her eyes drop to my chest when I walk back into my room in a towel. "You ok?"
"Yeah just daydreaming." Sure. "The bathroom's free now if you want to go and shower."
"Ok, see you in a bit." She walks out of the room and I start to get dressed. I hear the shower start running and my thoughts turn to places they probably shouldn't. Before we came here I swear I never thought of her this way. Well not never. But not this often. Now though, the idea that she's in the next room showering has me so distracted I try and put my shirt on my legs. Just as I finish getting dressed she knocks on the door. "Hey Avi are you ready? I need to come and get dressed."
"Yep. I'll open the door in two seconds." I cross the room and if her reaction upon seeing me in a towel was noticeable mine must be the most obvious thing in the world. While she's getting dressed I go downstairs. There's no one else in the house and when I go into the kitchen there's a note on the table from my parents telling me that they've gone to get my little cousin Harry and to help ourselves to breakfast. I start pulling things out of the cupboard and the fridge, settling on eggs and toast as an appropriate choice. I've almost finished frying the eggs when she walks into the kitchen. Her face is still pink from the hot water and her hair isn't completely dry. "Do you want me to do anything?" "I think I've got it covered. You could grab some plates and cutlery though." I go back to cooking and after about 30 seconds she places two plates on the counter next to me. "Here you go. What's the plan for today?" I lift the eggs onto the plates and carry them into the dining room and Kirstie follows with the plate of toast. "Well my parents are picking up my cousin Harry so I think we're spending the day with him if that's ok." Her face lights up "He's three right?" I nod, surprised that she remembers. "That'll be so much fun, I bet he's adorable."
Not long after we're done washing up my parents walk through the door."Avi!" Harry runs up to me and wraps his arms around my legs. "Hi Harry. How are you?" He instantly starts a stream of babbling conversation that's near impossible to understand. My mom grabs his hand and gently removes him from my legs. "Harry sweetie, this is Kirstie."
"You do singing with Avi." Kirstie smiles. "Yeah me and Avi sing with our friends. Have you seen the videos?" Harry nods excitedly and lets go of my mom's hand to walk towards her. "They're so cool!"
"Yeah?" He starts chattering excitedly about them, telling her all about himself and his mom and his mean big brother. She smiles and laughs and gasps at all the right moments and I watch as another member of my family starts to adore her."Avi, could we speak to you for a minute?" I stand up from where I've been sat helping Kirstie and Harry with a jigsaw and walk out into the hall. "What's up?"
"Your sister wants us to help her to pick out some things for when she moves out and this is one of the only times she's free. Since you're already doing such a great job would you and Kirstie mind looking after Harry for a few hours?" My dad interjects "We won't be back late and we'll leave you some money in case you need anything."
"We'll be fine. Kirstie's enjoying spending time with him." My mom smiles, looking relieved. "She's so good with him isn't she? You two are going to be such great parents one day." "Mom." I can feel myself turning red and I'm so glad Kirstie's not here to see it. "Don't worry I won't say anything, I'm not in any hurry for you to give me any grandchildren just yet." I groan. This may not have been the best decision.
