Chapter 8

Damien Downs

The alarm clock went off awakening Damien from his slumber. He glanced at the clock as it read 8:00 a.m. He sighed heavily and stretched out in the bed.

He reached for his phone to check if he received a call or text back from Gabrielle.

When he realized he didn't he called the one person he knew could give him some answers.

Mariah.

As the phone rang he mentally reminded himself to stay calm.

"I know you would eventually come around baby," Mariah sang into the phone.

"Try again Mariah. I said it before and I'll say it again, there is no us!" Damien yelled into the phone.

"Awe pookie your just saying that because your mad at me."

Damien rolled his eyes and smacked his lips.

"Listen Mariah, what the hell happened yesterday?"

"I mean I was just trying to make nice with the girl and her and her ghetto ass friend tried to attack me," Mariah said starting to whine.

"I know you Mariah. You instigated it, so you might as well tell me the truth."

"Well I just don't understand what you see in that whale. I'm better than her in every way. My body is nice, my hair is real, I'm beautiful. Why would you ever pick her over me?"

"I'm only gonna say this once, don't you ever part your lips to disrespect Gabrielle again." Damien said through clenched teeth.

"So your really leaving me for her?" Mariah yelled into the phone.

"I'm leaving you for me. For my own sanity!"

Damien hung up the phone and flopped back onto the bed.

He scrolled through his IG and came across a picture Gabrielle just posted.

He decided to try and call her before he got ready for work.

He dialed her number and she picked up on the fourth ring.

"Hello," She said dryly into the phone.

"Good morning beautiful."

"Do not good morning beautiful me Damien, what do you want?"

"I wanted to apologize for what Mariah did yesterday. It was out of line and I want you to know I will handle it."

"Okay so what you telling me for Damien?"

"Don't be like that Gabrielle. How was I supposed to know she was gone do that?"

" I don't know Damien but, if being your friend comes with this much drama I don't wanna be your friend."

" I promise it's not. Let me still take you out tomorrow night and I will prove that."

"Only because I already bought my outfit. You better be on your best behavior and keep your groupies in check." Gabrielle sighed into the phone.

"You won't be dissapointed Gabby, I can promise you that."

"Mhm. Have a good day Damien."

"You too love."

Damien hung up the phone with a smile on his face.

Now he could get his day started off on the right foot.

Gabrielle hung up the phone and looked over to see Alicia staring at her.

"What are you looking at?"
