Carlisle was trudging back and forth within the walls of his office. His mind kept throwing curses at him for being the kindhearted creature that he was. Glancing over at the petite creature resting on his couch unknowing of it, only made him feel worse. He didn't plan on bringing her back with him. He never wanted to associate with her again after how he broke her into tiny pieces when they last met. However, he couldn't just leave her there all helpless. She looked so fragile and weak when at the bottom of that crater, as if she just wanted to disappear from the world. Call him selfish, but he knew he still felt a tiny bit of the love they had years ago. Of course, it wasn't comparable to how it was, but there was still something there.
He sighed deeply and ruffled his blonde locks. He cast the goddess one last glance before opening the office door and stepping outside. His heightened senses made it extraordinarily easy to locate his family, they were all situated in the living room of the house. As he descended the stairs, he could feel several pairs of eyes locked onto his figure. All of his family members were there, their faces full of confusion. They must have smelt the unknown person in their house.
The moment just got worse as his first turned came back home. He could no longer hide his inner thoughts from being exposed into the harsh real world. He found a seat on a vacant chair, keeping his lips shaped into a thin line as he kept a watchful eye on Edward. He couldn't help but to feel his nerves wrecking themselves in his mind at the wait for the bronze haired vampire to speak up.
"Who is our unknown visitor, Carlisle?" The soft melodic voice of his eternal lover broke the silence resting over the living room. Her tone was soft, but stern showing that she clearly wanted to have knowledge of who was resting in their home without her knowing them. Carlisle understood this fully as he would probably feel the same way if an unknown scent to him was covering his home without him knowing the person it radiated from. The centuries old vampire glanced over at his first son, already feeling his golden eyes drill holes in his head.
"She is someone in need of help, and I was willing to give her that help." His answer at a layer of uncertainty over it, easily showcasing that he wasn't fully confident that his answer was convincing enough to them.
"You know her from somewhere." Edward's tone was accusing, telling Carlisle that he knew. He knew about Carlisle's inner thoughts. He knew about the memories flashing through his head. The feelings flying through him and making him feel extremely unwell. The thoughts revealing her true identity, something that should never be known to any mortal being. The younger vampire's eyes widened at all of this new information that flooded into his mind because of his unique ability. "She was your lover?"
The tension in the room instantly got much higher when those words escaped the bronze haired man's mouth. Shock was the clearest emotion shown on everyones faces. Carlisle couldn't help but feel guilty at what he had done. Bringing a past lover of his into their home without his mate's approval felt horrible now that he thought about it.
"She was my lover long before I met any of you." He starts carefully, being careful with the way he chose his words. He was aware of how easily he could be judged if he chose the wrong way to express his thoughts. "I haven't seen her in over two hundred years since we parted ways, until earlier in the forest. She looked so weak and helpless so I felt like I needed to help."
No one said a word. The room was bathed in silence. This time it was the sound of heels against the hardwood floor that broke th silence. His first turned daughter, Rosalie, had stood up form her seat and was headed up to his office. She needed to see this woman with her own eyes before she would believe the things Carlisle said. Sure, she trusted him with her whole heart but there was still a tiny doubt about his words that she needed to confirm by herself. No one dared to follow her, leaving her to check out her suspicions by herself.
Rosalie reached the wooden door of the doctor's home office and rested her cold hand on the door handle. She felt like she was invading his privacy by doing this, but her curiosity and need to find out was stronger than the tiny guilt she could feel. The blonde vampire pushed down on the handle, letting the door glide open and revealing the empty room to her. The room was completely empty, not a soul to see. It became clear to her that Edward had read her thoughts and told the rest of the family, because Carlisle was there within a second. His face revealed the intense shock he was feeling as he didn't see her in the room.

Lightning was sitting in a small meadow outside the modern house structure. Surrounding her were high grass and flowers, covering up her legs neatly and tickling lightly at her pale skin. Her dress had changed from the magnificent one she used to wear to a thin, airy summerdress. She had removed her shoes and had wandered around barefooted until she got where she was resting. The light breeze ruffled her golden locks and she closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling.
Footsteps were heard coming in her direction, as she expected. They would have found out that she wasn't there anymore. A small smile found its way onto her thin lips, they had taken longer than she thought. Picking up a flower detached from its roots, she twirled the fragile creation between the tips of her fingers and only looked away from it when the group of vampires burst into the clearing to disrupt the calm silence resting upon it.
She resembled a porcelain doll where she was sitting, the wind playing lightly with her hair. Holding the flower still in hand, she rose from her position on the ground and felt the grass tingle underneath her feet yet again. Her eyes moved graciously over each and every one of them before they landed on a familiar face. The corner of her lips pulled up slightly in a small smile as her rosy lips parted for her to speak.
