All my life I've been like this. Ever since... The Great Death. I was 6 when it happened.
"Äiti? Where is Aku and Inka?" I tugged on my Mother's sleeve. She looked at me with understanding eyes.
"Aku is hunting with Ïsa, and Inka is at a party with Aina and Aada." She picked me up and twirled with me in her loving arms.
"Aku and Ïsa won't be home for another day or so, but Inka should be home soon. When Inka comes home I need to go do errands. Ok Vauva?" She put me down gently. I frowned.
"Do not call me a baby, Äiti! But okay." I ran back into my mother's arms. She seemed sad when I said that.
"Are you sad, Äiti?" I asked. Äiti shook her head. Then she poked my nose.
"Even if you aren't a baby anymore, you will always be my vauva." Then she picked me up and threw me in the air.
"I will always protect you, vauva." She looked at me straight in the eyes.
"Always."
