"Wake up! Wake up! The school bus is almost here! It's the first day of school. Get up you lazy pig!" Fredrick screamed into my half waken ears.
"Get off me Fredrick! Five more minutes." I murmured in sleepy tone as I tried to push him out of bed.
Fredrick wouldn't stop tugging me out of bed. My eyes in drained muscles began to slowly open. My little brother, Fredrick, is always a 'the responsible' one of the family. For being little, he is doing a great job at it because I still yet haven't gotten up from bed.
"Get up! It is 7:30 and the school bus will be here in the next 15 minutes!"
Shit!
"Why didn't you begin with that at first you dork!" I frantically jumped out of bed.
Great! First day of senior year in college and I am getting up late. How can this day get any worse?
I rushed to bathroom to brush my teeth because I know that in no way in hell will I get breakfast. My adrenaline was rising each second. Getting a nice shower was out of the question so I went directly to my closet to find a pants and a shirt. After I got dressed, I went to find my new school bag and threw some books inside. I rushed downstairs to find a pair of shoes. I mirrored myself on the mirror close to the door and to my surprise I matched in clothing.
I heard the horn of the school bus coming close. My mind had completely forgotten that I had a little brother. I heard him telling me before I rushed to the bathroom that he was going to have some cereal. I walked outside and the bus was in close proximity. I got in the bus and made my way to the last seat of the bus. I heard excited chatter of the first day of school, everyone was happy about today but I wasn't. I had such a horrid morning.
As I sat down, my eyes captured my little brother running out of the door trying to signal the bus to stop. Part of me didn't wanted to stop the bus because of the hard stare everyone will give me but the good brother side possessed me.
"Stop the bus!" I shouted like if I was on a football game. The bus dragged me to the front almost causing me to fall. As expected, everyone's eyes were on me.
My brother got on the bus and he sat with his friends. With slight embarrassment, I sat down and plugged my earphones on just to distract my mind towards what happen 30 seconds ago. My brother likes to use my phone to get music and sometimes downloads some music on my phone. I always fight with him about it because he has his own phone but he prefers mines because I have Spotify. I selected a random album and without me realizing, I am listening to the song 'A thousand miles' by Vanessa Charlton.
"What a great way to continue the day!" I murmured.
We got to school. I was the last one to step down. I took a gulp of fresh air which unravelled to the fresh, well chopped grass on campus. The whole compound resonated the voice of the Dean who welcomed all of the students 'to the best year of college'. The same exact words he uses every year.
I made my way to the benches to meet up with Adley, my best bud. Adley has been my life long friend. We basically grew up together due to my father and his mother being best friends since they were 9 years of age. Adley has made such a big mark in the school at this point, he is the captain of the football team. I can hear the chanting crowd of students chanting 'Adley! Go Timberwolf!'
Unlike me, I am sort of a nobody here on campus. Why I say sort of? Think about it. I am the best bud of a Jock. What does that make me? Slightly popular. Anywho, as I was saying me and Adley are brother by heart not by blood. Whenever his parents come over for dinner or when we go over the usual topic would come up on the table. Linda, remember when we use to dirty our uniforms when we used to play fight? Linda remember this. Adley's mom is named Linda. Her name is translated to beautiful, and I won't lie his mom is really beautiful.
I don't blame them for they are amazing parents and they make their partners super happy. Especially my dad, he loves and cares my mother the most. I admire their relationship because the one thing they have thought me is to love someone with all your heart and treat them as if every single day was the last time you will see them because you never know what would happen after you last see them.
"How was your morning?" Adley asked me as we made our not so secret handshake.
"Well from you not calling me to pick me up and waking up late, just fine." I responded sarcastically.
Adley is sort of my alarm of every school day. I take advantage of him most of the time but what can you do, he owns a 1967 Chevelle SS, color silver and we look like badasses whenever we pull up at school.
"Yeah I forgot. Sorry man." His way of apologizing.
"Yeah, you did and you made me suffer an embarrassment in the bus! Anyway, let's head to class before Mrs. Henderson gives us a 3 hour detention like our last year's orientation." We both chuckled and walked to class.
We got to class and sat on our usual spot. We began to gossip about topics such as our "admirers" when suddenly a girl captured my eyes as she sat 2 seats in front of me. My attention drifted towards her and made Adley's voice become noise to my ears. I saw her quiet, not mingling with anyone. Her face was unfamiliar as well, she might be new. I can't really tell because most of the time I am usually in my own bubble because I am always criticized by other people for the way I am. Ever since Adley became the captain of the football team, my constant bullying terminated which for that reason I am so thankful in having a friend like him.
Mrs. Henderson entered the class and said her usual saying knocking me out of my thoughts,
"Another year of hell. Let us begin my demons"
She is blunt teacher. What is not to love about her. She speaks out her mind and most of the time is funny because you wouldn't expect for a teacher to talk like that.
"We have a new student in class today. She is a transferred student and I expect you all to treat her right today. Make her feel at home. Ms. Cassie Murphy can you please come in front so that everyone can know who you are."
She stood up and walked in front. My eyes just followed her. She turned around and my eyes were locked to her beauty. She was astonishingly beautiful. She had medium long brown-blonde hair, along with a pair of sparkling light brown eyes and a sweet smile. She had a black V-neck blouse with a blue skinny jean along with a white Adidas tennis.
"Hello everyone. My name is Cassie Murphy as you all have heard. I hope to become great friends with you all."
Out of the blues I heard myself moaning her name loudly. "Cassie!" Everyone's eyes on me. Great! Earth consume me now!
It must be the hunger that spoke out you Atlas! You definitely needed the breakfast.
Find out what happens next in the next chapter! I hope you enjoy this first chapter!
