The moon floated high in the sky, stars accompanying it. A young girl, abandoned at heart, dug through the ravaged moorlands for at least one bit of anything to survive on.
She had nothing left, and her small bag was full of loots from previous explorations. She had nowhere to run, turn, or hide. It was hopeless. If she was attacked, she could lose anything.
Small glimmers of light in the distance reminded her that civilization is nearby. Or was. Empty chests and old bank shops laced the area, but were hard to see. A forager like her, though, could find them instantly. She was used to it.
Residence after residence, the girl was torn. Lacking of protection, she was losing hope she didn't even have. Surviving in this land is small. She lost her last two homes to the griefers- lone bandits who destroy remote properties for fun, or for sport.
Cheated, lied to, and broken, she set off into the wooded desert in search of an abandon shack at the least.
What she found there, however, was astonishing. A full home. It was slightly torn apart, many pieces missing. A small tag lay in the corner of the back right side, labled, "Sweetie."
"If only I could reach it.." She spoke softly, almost extending her hand to the seemingly faraway home. This could be lifechanging. It was a beautiful oak wood home with big windows, and two floors. Perfect.
It was a long way to the prize. The doorway was shrouded in obsticles. Mangled land in front made it near inpossible to reach the shelter. Was it even worth it? Someone may live here. Regardless, one needed to find out.
Fight. All she could think of, the girl scraped her arms and legs, almost falling at some points. Covered in bloodied cuts, she nearly gave up. Climbing once more, she at last reached the top.
There was a single door leading to her prize. The girl slowly extended her hand to the doorknob and rotated it, pushing slightly. It clicked a few times, and as suspense built in her heart, the girl was stunned when she handled the metal knob.
Tears flowed from her cheeks, as she saddled up her bag once more.
