He saw him in the distance, the pale moonlight illuminating his panicked, devastated features, and casting shadows over his lips, eye lids. The darkened sky bent to the will of a half fairy running through the fields, his sorrow so deep the earth wept beneath his pounding feet. His hair looked pale, faded under the blue night, and the clusters of white stars turned gray tears to shimmering ivory, paths of white light branching down flushed cherub cheeks.

He was running, slender, daffodil stained legs stretching out far in front of him, and his feet crashing against the ground. His chest heaving, collapsing upon itself again and again, and his forehead was damp with cold sweat. Strands of his locks stuck to his quivering jaw, and he looked so utterly terrified, so utterly lost in that instant.

He was running like the floor was shattering beneath him, like there was something terrifying on his heels with its sharpened fingers reaching for his delicate throat.

He was running in a way that made Tae want to run to him.

But when he was close enough, his arms were wide open, and the small, trembling boy hurled himself against him, crashing into his chest, swallowing a dry sob as he buried his face in his shoulder.

"You can cry," Tae reassured him. It was all the permission he needed, and Jimin was breaking in his embrace. Bursting at the lace seams and burning with the pain of a shimmering existence set on fire. He muffled his pained whimpers in the fabric of his shirt, fingers clutching at him as if afraid he would disappear. He stroked him softly, holding him tighter. "you're my pretty weeper."
