I remain on the floor for a while, sobbing and eventually my eyes grow heavy and begin to flutter.
Just a moment later it seems, I hear a click coming from the door. I push myself up abruptly and find myself in someone's gaze. Suddenly, I begin to feel very self-conscious. Brushing myself off, I stand tall and face the shadowy figure that stands in the doorway.

With another click, the person flicks on a light switch, flooding the room with blinding light. I hold my hands in front of my face, shielding them as they slowly grow accustomed to the light. The cell seems to come to life, even the gray walls brightening as if they are a new color. I now see that the person is a woman, with red stringy hair tied back in a ponytail, two loose strands hanging free in an attempt to look natural. She probably pulled them out herself, trying to put on a more wild look. It didn't work.

She is about 30, wearing a clean white suit and her eyes are a brown so dark that they seem to be black pits, the iris bleeding into the pupil. It makes me lightly breathe a laugh as it hits me that she looks like a cartoon character from... something. That laugh echoes through my mind as I begin to picture two blurry faces. My mind builds a wall, blocking the rest of a start to a memory. I sigh.

It occurs to me that the woman has been standing there a while, awkwardly attempting to remain professional. She fiddles with her hands, keeping her eyes on me. One look at her doesn't fool me. She is uncomfortable and obviously doesn't want to be here any more than me. Feeling my gaze, she finally looks up.

"So you are awake"

No I am talking in my sleep, I think, and that whole making-eye-contact with-you thing? That's just by chance.

"I know you are still coming to, but if you would please follow me miss."

The woman with the red hair motions to the door. Do I follow her? Do I trust her?

Curious but cautious all at once, I rise to my feet. I feel the muscles in my legs slowly tense as I straighten them out. Suddenly, I begin to feel lightheaded as the world fades to black. I am awake, but disoriented. With nothing to grab on to, I stumble around blindly before crumpling to the ground. Nothing makes me feel more powerless, more weak than darkness.

"I am so sorry miss," the woman quickly blurts. " I should have know that you are in no condition to be walking around just yet. Allow me to-"

"Why?" I abruptly cut her off.

"Excuse m-"

"Why should I not be able to walk? Why am I so confused?! Who are you? Where am I? What am I doing here?!" I demand as my vision returns. Glaring at her with as much anger and hate as I can summon, I seem to make her shrink.

"All of your questions will be answered soon I assure you."

"I want them answered now."

"Just come with me and-"

" I don't think you understand. Why would I go anywhere with you until I know what is going on?"

My voice has escalated greatly and it seems to have drawn some unwanted attention. Two men wear white uniforms similar to that of the woman walk in and move towards me.

Beginning to back up, I stumble and one of the men catches me.

"Let me go!" I kick and jerk my arms as much as I can, my body lurching.

"Please miss" the other man says.

"Put me down and tell me what is going on!" I scream this time.

The man holding me places me on a wheeled hospital bed outside of the gray room. Pale white lights flood into my eyes and I scrunch them closed. As I do that, I feel a sharp pain in my left arm. I open my eyes to see one of the two men walking away with a syringe. Struggling to get off the bed, I slap a hand over the injection site on my arm before it limply falls to the bed.

"Now if you would just relax. We will answer your questions soon."
