jeno smiled, thanking him and telling him about his childhood.

jaemin hummed, letting go of jeno. "i'm not going anywhere any time soon." the two of them made eye contact. "i'm real this time. i'll really protect you."

jeno didn't know how to feel. it was all real. his jaemin was back. jeno wanted to know jaemin better. he wanted to be able to protect him from whatever he was afraid of too.

"jaemin, can you tell me more about yourself?"

to this, jaemin smiled. "of course i can. what do you wanna know?"

"everything."

then of course, jaemin told him everything. everything from how he was put up for adoption at the age of 12, then adopted at the age of 16, to how he was so grateful for everything he has. and he told him that his job at the cafe wasn't just to support himself, but his family too.

and in that moment, on this cold winter night, jeno knew that he felt something for jaemin. something that made his stomach do backflips and his heart beat faster. he didn't want to call it love, but that's exactly what it was.
