Stepping out into the cold night with his mouth hanging open, Jin was in awe of the scene in front of him.

Somehow, the secluded rooftop where the two neighbours-turned-best-friends spent most of their time together was utterly transformed. The bleak space Jin and Y/N had grown to love was completely different.

Gone was the trash that had accumulated on the roof over the years from littering visitors other than themselves. The grey cement floor that was once covered in leaking takeaway boxes, empty alcohol bottles and cigarette butts was clean, the rubbish nowhere in sight.

The overcrowded and dingy clothes lines usually criss-crossed from the wall behind him to the railings ahead. However they had disappeared, pushed off to the sides to unveil a magnificent view of the city. It was something once hidden by the sheer amount of fabric that hung there, like stage curtains keeping a set from sight until showtime. And what a show worth waiting for it was, now that the curtains were drawn at last.

Finally revealed to its ogling spectator who had forgotten its glory, the bustling city twinkled and glowed against the night sky. From street lights and blinking adverts on buildings, to the luminance that spilled from un-curtained windows and open doors which still had wide awake occupants, artificial lighting irradiated the city. Vehicles of all sizes and shapes zoomed down roads with their headlights blazing, adding to the brilliance the city seemed to discharge. From Jin's vantage point they seemed like toy cars in a never ending race; looping their way through the endless twists and turns of the metropolis, sometimes slowing in the nightly traffic.

His gaze shifted up from the cars, lampposts, buildings and into the sky. It was then that Seokjin noticed the gleaming crescent of the moon and the minuscule specks of shining stars. He watched in wonder as they got hidden behind menacing dark gray clouds that seemed to yell "snow!", just like Y/N had mentioned.

Suddenly remembering the girl who had asked him to come up here in the first place, Jin turned around to be greeted by another surprise.

In his excitement over the majesty of the city skyline, he had neglected to look at his two sides as he entered the rooftop and had just concentrated on the spectacle before him. Nevertheless, upon turning around to face the way he had come, the once overlooked space gained his full attention.

The entryway to the roof had once held a few deteriorating sun-beds and a single bright red plastic chair where the duo would sit with fizzy drinks and snacks after a tiring day of college, work or plain interaction with rude, ungrateful people who seemed to be set out to ruin their mood. Ranting about their unfair workload and annoying lecturers, the two would lounge on the abandoned furniture, ignoring the fact it could crumble under their weight at any given moment.

Now they were gone, replaced by an old mattress covered in a mass of pillows and blankets under the cover of the roof that extended from above the door. The roof extension served as a shelter from the elements for people who wanted to be outside in horrible weather but also didn't want to get wet. A clear plastic tarp extended its reach, securing a decent corner of the rooftop under its water proof shield that stretched from the railing to the edge of the roof.

Scented candles filled the air with sweet smells of the festive season and gave off a lustre that added to the welcoming nature of the space. Twinkling fairy-lights hung from the ceiling of the tent-like structure, topping off the decor to create the blanket-fort of the century, one that seemed to have jumped straight out of a childhood fantasy.

Jin took in a deep breath as he approached the enchanting construction, enjoying the aromas of Christmas which floated up to greet his nose. It looked like the epitome of comfort and he was amazed by its beauty.
