Every day the sun rises and falls, giving light and darkness to our world, like two different dimensions throughout our hours.
Every day, the world I live in gives us all a new beginning to our lives. My world and yours are different, but not very much if you think about it. Here in our world, called Lantadias, anything can happen.
All kinds of places, creatures, and things to explore and discover. With anything you can be or do. With all sorts of magic to see.
But with some people, it's not that easy.
For instance, there's me. I'm Brendon, and I don't have all of the riches or fame like others.
I don't wear the latest of clothing as much as just an old doublet and boots. I'm pretty slim and I have dirty blonde hair, with brown eyes, so nothing special.
I'm a farmer, er, serf, actually. Me and my family work for our kingdom, in which is the kingdom of Norzu.

Being a farmer is tough, especially when there's only four people to do the job, of course.
Ever since my big brother, Jedrick, went off to be a knight for our kingdom it's been harder for my family to manage everything.
My mom and little sister help me and dad work on the farm but normally stay inside to do household chores, since that's what girls are suppose to do (According to my mom). Which leaves only me and dad to do all the dirty work.
And when I say dirty work, I mean we are knee-high in all kinds of mud and waste!
But, I shouldn't complain that much, this is everyday life, you get use to it. Come to think of it, we're a pretty good farm! (despite our lack in people.)
So right now, winter just ended and springs around the bend so me and dad had to start planting the crops early.
This was going to be our third spring without Jedrick around, so we were just starting getting used to him gone.
He had to be anyway, war struck between all the kingdoms of Lantadias, and they needed his help, everybody's help, really. Come to think of it, everything has been very strange, lately.
I mean, we've been getting attacks by, not just other kingdoms, but even dragons, chimeras, cockatrices, and all kinds of monsters in between!
My gosh, if it's that dangerous here, I wonder what kinds of dangers Jedrick could be experiencing right now! To be honest, I worry about him, a lot. But I know him, and Jedrick is very brave and strong, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

So anyway, back to reality, It was an average day like any day, just me and Dad in the field. I was trudging from field to field with heavy seed sacks laid all across my back while my dad was walking from place to place, plowing with a hoe.
We couldn't use the wheelbarrow for the seeds because it was broken and I still wasn't used to all of this heavy lifting, yet. Seeds are heavier than they look, you know! I was normally just the one who held a few bags or just laid out seeds, I wasn't as strong as Jedrick was.
Dad plowed the last of the field and wiped his brow. Just because it was still a bit cold, doesn't mean you can't get hot doing all this. But the cold still felt pretty good.
Dad looked up at me, struggling to carry my heavy load, "How you doing there, Brendon?" My dad asked me, snapping me out of my daze, "You look like you're about to collapse! Do you need any help?"
I felt like I was going to collapse too, but I wanted to show him that I wouldn't give in, I had to be strong if I was going to do this.
I struggled to pick it all up and act like it was easier than how it really was, still slumping and a bit wobbly from the weight though.
"I'm alright" I told him. "I can handle it."
I tried to look tough and unbothered by all of the sacks slumping all over my face, which I hoped wasn't that distracting.

He took a questioning last glance at me then turned around, rubbing his back, "Alright then, come on we have a big day, today."
Dad seemed just as tired as me, even though he had just a hoe. Truth is, he's been having serious back problems, lately.
I know! What a perfect time to be having them with all these crazy attacks, right?
But dad was always a pretty strong guy like Jedrick, and he obviously took it better then me, too.
He was big and masculine, but... middle aged.
He use to be a high ranking knight too, (probably what Jedrick would become, someday.) and even became a pretty big deal!
But he retired as a farmer when he started getting all of these problems, and I'm guessing he's still pretty famous, but dad on the other hand, never looks back.
I took a big breath and braced myself as I summoned the strength to push the sacks up and over myself again and keep up with dad. Just a little longer, I told myself. Be strong. Just a little bit longer.
