Chapter Twenty Two

I think I was as shocked as Electra, how had they managed to keep this a secret from all of us I have no idea but from the look on Cade's face this was the last thing he was expecting

Did he really think I'd go telling everyone Electra was my mate, or trick her into believing she was when she really wasn't?

Electra stepped back a little "why are you telling me this now? Why not years ago?" She asks with tears in her eyes

Her dad looks at her sadly "we didn't see much reason to until now, you seemed to be happy and we consider you our own" he looks into Electra's eyes

"But how do I smell like you?" I could tell Electra needed answers

Her mum had stopped crying and answered "there's an ancient blood spell that binds the blood to a child who has lost its parents, they adopt the adults smell and family name"

Electra was taking everything in, I could see Cade watching me from the corner of my eye and he still didn't look happy.

"Electra?" I hear her mum call out, Electra takes her eyes off whatever she was staring at and looks at her "we are sorry this came out now, but please know that we love you just as much as if you were our own child" I can see the love she has for Electra in her eyes

I had been standing close to Electra but I let her have her space, I could see everything ticking in her mind and working everything out.

I had expected an outburst, or just something that would show if she was upset or angry. I could feel her feelings but she seemed reasonably calm.

She stepped forward toward her father "I want to see the cabin" her fierce determination evident in her voice

Her parents eyes both widened in disbelief, I don't think they were expecting her to ask that

Her dad clears his throat "you can't, it's in no mans land and dangerous" he says sternly

I see Electra's fists clench, her annoyance with the situation starting to show "you guys went there, I want to see it, I want to see where they lived so I can at least have something that brings me closer to them" she pleads, her voice becoming calmer with each word

"It's too dangerous... the rogues..." her father starts but I cut him off

"I'll take her" I say with determination, I would do anything for her "I've been in no mans land before, I can navigate my way around" I confess. I had spent too much time there in the past

Electra looks over to me with a half smile, but her dad jumps to his feet "it's dangerous out there!!" He slams his fist on the table "you're not going out there, there's nothing left there!" He says sternly

Electra steps forward, she wasn't backing down "I need this, I want to see where my parents were living, please dad" she pleads

I could see his temper change in his face, he looked so unsure but so close to breaking, he pinched the ridge of his nose and sighed "listen, I will let you go only if you take at least three of the patrols with you" he says with reluctance

I see Electra's eyes widen but before she can say anything Cade speaks up "I'm going too" he says

His father looks over to him and grumbles "you will be staying here, recovering and then going on with your training" he says sternly

Cade grumbles but doesn't say anything else. I put my hand on Electra's shoulder and she looks up at me, her emotions were all over the place but she still gives me a small smile. I smile back

Her father clears his throat "I will organise the patrols for tomorrow, I want you there and back within two days, no stuffing around and don't go looking for trouble" he says sternly

I can see Electra smile from the corner of my eye, she approaches her mother and father and they both pull her into a hug "thank you, I love you both so much" Electra says as she holds onto her mother and father.

They let her go and she walks back over to me. We get dismissed and walk out of the room.

We were headed outside quietly, not speaking but just walking calmly next to each other, I put my arm around her waist and pull her in closer. The tingles running along my whole body, I kiss her head and she giggles... a sound I absolutely love

"Kyan!" I hear Cade call from behind me

I sigh and slow to a stop, turning around to face him I notice the scowl from his face is gone and is replaced with what looks like regret

He catches up to us with a limp and sighs "listen... I'm sorry" he starts but it doesn't look like he's quite finished yet "I just, wanted to protect Electra and after... well" he starts but rubs the back of his neck unsure on what to say

I knew what he was talking about and when he didn't say anything I had to step in "Natalie?" I ask

He nods his head. He was always hung up on what happened with Natalie, especially since she lied to everyone and everyone seemed to pick her side over mine

I could feel the anger building again "you never believed what had to say about it, I came to you and tried to talk to you but you believed her over your own beta!" I said angrily

I could feel Electra's hand resting on my arm and felt myself calm a little but I had to get it off my chest. He had to know the truth

"Cade, I loved her, I was going to propose to her and ask her to be my mate" I see his eyes widen

His mouth opens and closes a few times "I ah... you never told me" he stumbles on his words but I wasn't done

"I was going to go to her room that night and tell her everything and when I walked up to her door I heard something strange" I say, I still felt a little bit upset about it but finding Electra had lessened the pain

"I opened her door and there she was, with another man... when she realised I was there and begged me to stay I just walked away" I say angrily

"Fuck" I hear Cade whisper and Electra cuddles into me

"She told everyone in the pack that she had caught me with another woman, I was labeled a cheater and no matter how many people I tried to tell otherwise no one believed me" I pause "until Shauna" I remember the time we first met and smile

"And so... I became what everyone wanted me to be, a player, I hated what I had become but no one took me seriously anymore and I was giving up on finding my true mate" I snuggled Electra into me and kissed her head. I felt bad that she was hearing this but it was before I found out she was my mate

"When I saw Electra at the airport, something clicked and I felt something awaken in me" I smile down at her "but your stupid rule was forcing me away from her and I knew I was falling for her" I look at Cade.

"You were punishing me for something I never did, labeling your own beta just like most of the pack had and it was wrong" I say to him aggressively

"Kyan, I know, I've been awful and I hope in time you will forgive me" he sighs "I know I didn't listen to you the first time you tried to tell me but I'm glad you told me now. I am very sorry"

I had to forgive him, he had been fed lies just like the rest of the pack and so I pulled him into a hug "thanks, I forgive you but for now I want to spend some time with my beautiful mate" I say as I release him

He nods his head and I walk back over to Electra and grab her hand. Pulling her away from Cade I say "sorry you had to hear that, I had to get it off my chest" I half smile at her

She looks up at me and smiles "I know you had to, it happened before me and now I just want to spend the rest of the day with you" she says happily

I grin down at my little mate "whatever you want beautiful"

Okay, I am so sorry this took so long. Work and everything has been super busy!!

I have been on holidays and finally had some time to write a chapter before I got back to work tomorrow ☹️
