The sun spilled in all directions of the land. Every stomach full, every mind clear of troubles , every heart content.

But this is dawn.

And dawn ends.

Anna stood outside her family's house. She sat on the edge of the patio. How could she do this? But she had to, she told herself. She had to remove herself from this equation before she did something that she couldn't fix. She had come the night before to tell her brother and his husband, but they had another problem on their hands.

A bigger problem than you, her mind unhelpfully supplied.

But she believed it. You would believe anything your mind told you in you had Agno Phelebria. (y'all still know what that is right?)

She jerked when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She relaxed slowly. "Alex, I needed to tell you something. I-"

"I'm sure Alex can wait."

And when Anna turned around, she refused to believe that she wasn't hallucinating.

"Reynolds..."

Thomas and Alex sat in their adjacent cubicles in Washington Co. Alex groaned loudly and turned over to his bored husband.

"I literally have nothing to do." He droned. Thomas nodded vigorously.

"I know! I finished all my work, but we can't just leave." Thomas blinked.

"Can we?"

"Hello men, how are you faring?" Washington knocked on their door, leaning against the frame. They both immediately straightened, looking more like attentive business man rather than bored boys.

"Hello sir, we are well. And you?" Alex offered. Washington ignored the nicities (lol idk how to spell that) and looked shocked, before completely and turned serious.

"You too seem oddly happy, despite the circumstances."

Thomas blinked. "What circumstances?" He felt his heart rate pick up. What happened?

Washington's jaw dropped, a thing that never, ever happened. He looked between the two, Alex looking just as confused. He visibly turned red, swallowing thickly. No one likes to be the bearer of bad news.

"Thomas, your sister, she was...she was kidnapped at dawn today."

And just like that, time stopped. Nothing existed except Thomas and the hammering of his heart. He felt something disgusting grow in his stomach, something that didn't belong there. He would have let out a shrill scream if he was inhibited by the malfuctioning of his mouth, of his whole being. After what felt like days, he let out a small,

"What?"

"It's everywhere, how did you not hear? Oh my..." Washington wrung his hands together in concern. He looked at Alex, who was frozen in fear.

"Son, you need to go home. Both of you."

But neither of them moved. They sat there, still and cold, because the unimaginable had happened. They slowly looked at each other, both their faces shiny with tears as reality knocked the air out of them.

They couldn't keep the world safe and sound for Anna.

"Thomas, we need to get home, right now. We have to call John, we- we have to-"

Thomas stood up suddenly, his actions wild and desperate. He grabbed Alex's shoulders. His eyes were wide and searching, a reflection of his haywire mind.

"We have to find Anna."

Alex swallowed and nodded. He slowly furrowed his brow before looking to Washington.

"Do...do you know who-"

"James Reynolds."

Now it was Alex's turn to jerk to life. Thomas and Alec looked at each other, clinging on to one another.

"The kids!"

Philip and Eacker sat behind their school, their fingers intertwined and their lips locked. Philip pulled back and smiled at Eacker's soft giggles.

"I...I love you, Georgie." Philip whispered into the smaller boy's ear. Eacker smiled and lurched forward, wrapping his amrs around Philip's shoulders. He sighed contentedly. The couple jumped when the heard a voice.

"Ahem, boys"

A man stood in front of them in a beige drench coat and a unnerving smile. Philip sat up taller and held Eacker's shaking hand.(MMMM MY BOY IS SO PROTECTIVE AHHHH)

"Yes?" Philip asked, puffing his chest out. The man chuckled lowly. "It's nothing. I'm just here to pick you up."

Philip raised his eyebrow, looking unnamused.

"Really?" he deadpanned. The man rocked on his heels.

"Yup, don't want to keep Anna waiting, do you?" The mention of Anna sent both Philip and Eacker. If the man knew her name...then he probably wasn't lying.

Besides, Philip knew better than to keep Anna waiting. He felt tears fly to his eyes. When had his sister changed so much. He remembered when he was three, and his sister what the light of his life. Then, everything changed.

"Philip?" Eacker placed a gentle hand on his arm. Philip shook his head and smiled.

"Sorry, sorry. Let's go."

The followed the man around the back to his van. Eacker lowered his eyes skeptically. He held Philip' s hand. He watched as the man opened his door. And the first thing Eacker saw was guns. Guns and bags of-

"Philip, we need to run." He whispered frantically. Philip turned to him, his eyes slightly red. He pointed to the van, and his whole body started to shake, his mind was running.

He pulled on Philip's hand, ready to sprint, when he felt a hand pull on his back pack.

"Not so fast, you little pest."

Panic bubbled in Eacker's chest.

"RUN, PHILIP!" Eacker screamed. He took his backpack off, not caring for the contents anymore. He grabbed Philip's hand and then sprinted, the sound of gunshots ringing behind them.

"GET BACK HERE!" He heard the man scream madly. The two ran as fast as they could, the man being right on their tail. Philip snapped back to his senses. He tried to calm his breathing as they ran.

"We-We can't go home, he-he'll find us there. We have to hide, c-oh god, how did he know Anna's name?!" Philip frantically spit out, not daring to let go of Eacker's hand. Eacker felt tears slip down his cheek.

He flinched when he heard another gunshot ring behind them, resounding in his chest and ears. He suddenly turned serious. This was real. He looked back, and the man was further away. He turned to Philip.

If Philip was shocked by his change in character, he didn't say anything.

"I know where we have to go."

And they kept running, until the sun set, and until their stomach's weren't full, and their heart's weren't content, and their faces etched with worry.

The dawn might have came earlier.

But it was gone now.

And it wouldn't be coming back anytime soon.
