Chapter 2

Jacob Fay

Here we are. Two Nobodies. A class clown. A football player. And An Idiot.Popular. Cheerleader, sitting at one single table. None of us making a single sound, just looking around at the idiotic posters hanging up on these cramped in walls. The god damn teacher took out phones.

I was clearly aggravated but I wasn't as bad as little Christie over here, she was getting angrier by the minute, and it didn't help any that my best friend, Isabella, was sitting next to me tapping her fingers on the table lost in thought. Julie, the beautiful one, and the red eyes twerp were lost in a book. Leaving me here between the demons who happen to be my best friend Bella (Isabella) and the girl everyone wants me to be with, Chris (Christie). With nothing else to do, I just sat there looking at Julie, admiring her pretty green eyes.

She looked up and I instantly turned my head, not wanting to get caught staring. It took me a hot second to realize she was looking at something else, so I followed her gaze next to me where Christie and Bella were bickering, I sighed as I knew there was nothing we can do to get them to stop. I grew up with Bella who lives right across the street, our parents are friends, since there the football and cheer coaches at the school. Bella and Christie were close friends up until last year when we came to high school, that was when everything changed in the blink of an eye. The day when they got into a fight was the same day Christie became the head cheerleader a week after Bella quit her mom's team. They both have been on a rocky path since they are always fighting and bickering at every available moment.

I shook my head trying to forget about those confusing times and when I did, I saw the red-eyed boy focused and lost in thought just staring at the table and not at his book. I didn't even realize I was staring until he opened his mouth, "what are you looking at" his eyes boring into mine agitated as he woke up from his trance. I soon noticed that the bruise around his eye has gotten worse since yesterday and I didn't distinctly remember hitting him around the face.

"what's your name?" I tried to ask politely but it came out more as demanding. I tried to lighten the question in fear of making a bad impression, "I haven't seen around school". He seemed shocked but it quickly slithered away with an annoyed look, "I'm Ethan Theo, and just for your information I have 5 classes with you." he spat looking down at his book, annoyed with my carelessness to pay attention.

"Alrightie then..." I mumbled to myself as I advanced my attention to Julie who was peacefully reading a book like always.

Isabella Hartley

After little miss Bookworm over here broke apart my innocent little argument with little Miss Perfect, I got bored, like really really bored.

So here I am sitting in this boring grey dust room with absolute morons. I've been tapping my foot for a little while now going over how long it would take to go grab duck tape in the janitors closet and tape it to Miss perfects, perfect face. The answer is 2 and a half minutes if I ran.

I sighed, flipping around in my chair to hang upside down so that my braid is hitting the floor. I started counting the seconds in my head to make sure to sit up and preventing the chance of getting dizzy or having asphyxiation.

While counting to 45, I noticed Demon Boy reading a plain black book. He was looking down so that his curly hair would cover his eyes and glasses. It was also covering that black eye that he had from yesterday. Knowing Jake, he didn't give him a black eye. So it leads me to wonder.

"Hey, demon boy, whatcha' reading?" I asked innocently, getting him to look up. It worked as he shifted his head so that he could look at me with a curious glance. The look was much different than the one he gave Jake maybe 10 minutes back.

"I have a name you know" he calmly spoke, one that differed once again to his prior conversation with Jakey. I took this short amount of time to pretend that I was thinking of his name, to analyze his bruise. Based on the angling of the bruising he was hit right around the outer part of his eye causing the bruise to appear on his cheek more than the bottom part of his eye.

"Aaron... right?" I said knowing it was wrong and that there would be an 80% chance that it would piss him off. His expression left me in shock as he smiled looking down to his lap trying not to laugh.

"It's Ethan, but at least you tried" he looked up after saying this to see my expression, he was trying to figure me out. How in the world can someone find out in the first place? Only one person knows and I can't stand her, so how can he know me for 24 hours and find out.

"I like demon boy more," I said finally realizing that I might be able to shake his tail. He smiled once more before returning to his book.
