I groan after I look at the time.
12:34 p.m.
One more minute and it's lunch time. Hunger and my stomach aren't a very good pair. I try to stop my stomach from growling by squeezing it. I even fake cough just to cover up the horrid sound. I couldn't take it anymore and the teacher was babbling non-sense.
"And with that, the atoms will-"
Ring!
I stand up and slam my book shut. I am a hungry teen and no one is going to stop me from getting food into my system. I run out the classroom right after the teacher dismisses us.
"Paradice Newman! Get your ass over here!" I hear Ray shout behind me as I dash through the students. "Can't, I need food! Meet me at the cafeteria." I yell back, hoping that she hears me over the loud noise.
I sigh in relief when the line of the queue wasn't long.
Someone grabs my shoulder and turns me around. "God dammit, couldn't you wait for awhile?" Ray asks while panting. I give her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I thought the line was going to be long."
She rolls her eyes and then waves her hand. "No, it's alright. I know how you act around food anyway." She mentions and queue behind me. I shrug and then turn in front. "Can't deny the truth now, can we?" I mutter.
After I take my food, I quickly shove it down my throat due to the hungriness. "Whoa, slow down, my friend." Ray says as she takes a seat in front of me. "You are going to choke yourself." She adds and then takes a bite out of her burger.
I shake my head with my mouth full of food. "No, I won't." I state but it sounds more like 'O, a wo.".
Of course, Ray finishes before me no matter how hungry I am. "I've got to go though. Miss Luna said that she wants to see for something." She tells me and gives me a frown. I shrug. "It's okay." I wave her off.
"Meet you at our classroom after?" She offers and I nod. "Yeah, sure. Bye." I swallow my food down before saying. Ray goes off and I am alone with my thoughts again.
But before the thoughts accompany me, someone takes over Ray's seat.
"Hey honey." He smiles. "Wasn't expecting to see you here." I affirm as I take a bite out of my pizza. "I saw you eating alone so I thought that you need some company." He grins.
I smile at his action. "Thanks, baby. You shouldn't have though." I show him my gratitude by patting his hand. He shrugs and then takes a sip of his drink. "I want to. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I don't accompany my own girl?"
My own girl, I love how that sounds.
I can feel my cheeks getting hotter. "Oh well, um..." I laugh awkwardly due to my boyfriend being a sweetheart. "Speechless?" He raises an eyebrow and gives me a cocky look.
I swat his hand. "Shut up." I hiss and then take the last bite of my pizza. I take my plate and stand up. Austin follows me as I put the plate into the container and I swear I feel like every pair of eyes in the cafeteria is staring at us.
Afterwards, we walk out of the cafeteria slowly. I was surprise at how Austin calm he is about us walking together. The cafeteria is somehow silent when we are walking and I can't help but wonder if gossip really travels that fast.
"Have you realise how everyone was quiet and watching us when we were walking together?" I ask him and he shrugs like it was nothing and puts his arm on my shoulder. "They were probably jealous. We do look like a loving power couple, if I do say so myself." He chuckles and I shove him off me playfully. "Get away, you cocky bastard. I want my gentleman back."
