I fell asleep in Tom's arms, his white blankets keeping me warm. The nurses did kept coming in to change his IV and catheter bag several times, but did those things quietly as to not disturb us.
The Asian one woke me up, telling me to write my discharge papers and I could leave. Sean, thankfully, was in the waiting room and offered me a ride to my house.
When we got there, I asked, "Hey, Sean, when you get back to the hospital, tell Tom that I left, okay?"
"Okie dokie artichokey," he affirmed.
I opened the door, peeking my eyes inside and pushed my head in.
Huh! Everything looked the same before my dad attacked me and was shot.
There was the faintest bit of blood on the carpet, yet it was barely noticeable.
It was great to be home though Tom was left behind at the hospital so he'll take time to heal after surgery and be sent home to me.A week and a half passed by when I heard my phone buzzed on my nightstand. Who'll call me at seven o'clock in the morning? I picked it up anyway and put it to my ear, asking, "Hello and who is this?"
"Go outside," said Tom.
Rubbing my eyes, I mumbled, "Wha?"-
"Sean's got a surprise for you."
I rolled out of my comfortable bed and tied a bathrobe around me, unlocking the door to see Sean.
"Hey, Tom just called me. Said you've got a surprise," I explained.
He chuckled, opening the passenger door and out came Tom, a thick cast upon his left leg. I smiled and hugged him gently, recognizing his English Leather/Irish Spring scent again.
"Were you mad when you woke up and I wasn't there?"
"No, Sean told me what happened. To be honest, I was glad you went home; probably uncomfortable when you slept on the IV cord and the nurse came in to change it."
"Speaking of cords, was it painful to get the catheter out?"
"Nope. All they did was pull it out."
I cringed when he said "pull".
"Sure it didn't hurt?"
"Not at all."
"Geez," I shivered.
Luckily he had crutches but still needed help to open the door and get down on our bed.
"Can I get you anything? Food, water?"
"We can replay Phantasmagoria," he suggested.
If you don't know what the video game Phantasmagoria is, then I suggest you play it. Bit cheesy here and there, but one of the greatest point-and-click horror games ever!
"Phantasmagoria sounds good," I agreed.
