A Forgotten Memory

Chapter 2

Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, the 501st battalion, and R2-D2 land their ship on Shili. Ahsoka steps out of the ship, the familiar sents welcoming her, the ones she had not smelled in 14 years. 

"This way," Ahsoka told her accompanists. 

Ahsoka leads them into the thick forest, and for five minutes, they walk in silence. Finally, the ARC Clone Trooper known as Fives speaks up. 

" You seem to know your way around this forest pretty well, Commander," he comments. "Yes. You had to, if you wanted to survive your Akul right of passage trials," Ahsoka responded. " Hey, Ahsoka.If you don't mind me asking,  but what is the Akul right of passage trials?" Anakin wondered in curiosity. 

" When a Togrutan child becomes of age, they must go into the forest and kill an Akul. It would give us a place in our tribe and bring honor to our family," Ahsoka explained.

 " But why is killing an Akul so important?" Anakin asked again. " See these teeth that I wear on my head?"

 Ahsoka asks them. They nod in response.

 " These teeth can rip through Togrutan flesh like tissue paper. The Akul is the one predator of my kind. When the Akul has been killed, we pull out its teeth and the women of the tribe make special headdresses out of the teeth. But, usually, the woman is the mother of the child." 

"So your mother made your headdress? That's really cool, Ahsoka," Anakin compliments her.  

" No. She didn't. I did.  My parents died when I was too young to remember them. When Master Plo Koon found me, I was being cared for by the village Elders." 

"Ahsoka, I'm so sorry. But I understand how it feels when you loose your parents. I lost my mother when I was a little boy," Anakin tells her.

 All of a sudden, Ahsoka puts up her hand, signalling for them to stop. 

" Ahsoka? What is it?" Anakin asks.

 "We're not alone." she says. 

"Akul?"Echo asks.

 "No. I can hear them, but I don't know what they are." 

Suddenly, two figures jump out of the bushes, blasters and spears in hand. Anakin ignites his lightsaber, only to have Ahsoka jump in between the three to prevent a battle.

 " Anakin, stand down," Ahsoka tells him. 

"But-" 

"Let me handle this." 

"Fine," Anakin dis-ignites his lightsaber.

 Ahsoka appraoches the two figures, and when they come into the light, she that they are two  male Togrutans. Holding up her hands, she walks up to them. 

 " Du name e' Ahsoka Tano. Mi'm here ta Corasant, ke protect our Togruta." (  My name is Ahsoka Tano. I'm here from Corasant, to protect our people) 

The other Togrutas look at her, then notice her headdress. 

"Mi och yeh have completed sa Akul right d' passage. Congratulations. Mi am Koric, and this e' Faye. ( I see you have completed your Akul right of passage. congratulations. I am Koric, and this is Faye.)"

,Koric motions to his friend, who nods his head in response. Finally, he notices Anakin. "Ki's det Jedi?"(Who's the Jedi?) Koric asks.

"This e' du Master, Anakin Skywalker.(This is my Master, Anakin Skywalker)." 

"Skywalker? Well, na yeh are here ke save our Togruta, then we will kuhk yeh ke det village.   (Skywalker? Well, if you are here to save our people, then we will take you to the village)." 

"Thank yeh. (Thank you)", Ahsoka tells the two males as the turn and start to walk away. 

"What did they say?" Anakin asks. 

"They said that they can take us to the village. Come on, we have to hurry."

Time Skippp!! (Because this would be boring otherwise)

As the group make their way to the village entrance, Ahsoka hears silence. Usually, the village is loud, and you could feel the happiness that the village had to offer. It looked deserted and some of the huts were burned down. "What, happened here?" Ahsoka asks Koric, not knowing whether he could understand her. " Grievous arrived and started attacking  us. He said that if we did anything against him, he would burn our homes. Some did ise up, but Greivous stayed true to his words. But while he was doing that, Faye and I were able to get the others to a safe. place." They continue to walk through the ruins, and suddenly Ahsoka stops and looks down. 

At her feet is a small Togrutan doll. She picks it up, brushes off the dust, and begins to silently cry. She cries for the little child who lost one of the most precious things childhood had to offer, she cried for her home, for her planet and her people, but most importantly, she cried for her parents. Her dead parents, who had apparently died for protecting her against a slaver, the one true family she had,and they were gone. (I cried writing this) Ahsoka hears someone say her name, which snaps her back to her thoughts. "Are you okay?" Anakin asks her. Not able to speak, she shows him the burned and battered doll. He sighs and pulls her into a hug,which surprised her. " I understand what your going through. Your thinking about your parents. I never knew my father, and my mother died in my arms when I was 10." Koric walks over to Ahsoka. " Ahsoka. If you want us to, we can take our to the others. Your parents might not be dead. In the midist of the attack, I heard a female Togruta ask her husband if he thought that their daughter would come. He said that since her home is Shili, the Jedi would most likely send one of  our own. I think their daughter was you. " Ahsoka quickly dried her tears and nodded. "Lead the way........"
