"Beep.Beep.Beep." Is what my alarm clock says telling me that it's time to get up. I grumble as I look at the time, 6:30. I sigh, get out of bed, and hurry to the bathroom to brush my teeth. when I get back to my room I pick out an outfit for the first day of my senior year of high school.

"Last year of high school!" I whisper excitedly to myself. once I'm dressed, I look in the mirror and see my pink shoes and my white sundress with little pink flowers on it. And then, my gaze lifts to my head and I see my hair. "Yeeeepppppp!" Is all that I can say; saying that it's disheveled would be an understatement. My hair looks like a cat attacked me in my sleep!

After fighting with my mousy, brown hair for about five minutes, I decide to just do a nice braid so that it doesn't look horrendous. Then, I go back to the mirror so that I can apply some eyeliner and mascara to my pale blue eyes.

"Emily, dear, breakfast is ready," I hear my mom shout from the bottom of the stairs. As soon as I hear that I rush down the stairs. I can't believe I didn't realize how hungry I was.

"Hi mom!" I exclaim as I sit down across from her and start to eat the pancakes that she made for me.

"So... Your first day of senior year," she says with a smirk, "are you excited?"

"Not really," I say, "I mean, we haven't even had any new kids in our class since freshman year, so no, I'm not ecstatic, but I'm happy that I'm a senior now."

"Ah, I see. So have you talked to Sam lately?" she inquired.

"Um... no. I called her two weeks ago but I haven't talked to her since," I declare. Samantha, Sam, is my best friend, and I've known her since we were like five years old. I feel a sudden pang of guilt in my chest for not talking to her very much this summer.

I look down at my watch to check the time, 7:11. I get up and put my plate in the sink and then wave goodbye to my mom as I grab my bag and walk out the door.

I get to school at 7:35. Great, I think to myself, I have ten minutes to get my schedule, find my locker, unpack, and then get to home room. While I'm picking up my schedule, I can't help but notice a guy who I've never seen before. He has dark brown hair and stunning, bright blue eyes. And then, he starts moving towards me! All that I can think is OH MY GOSH HE IS SO ATTRACTIVE!!!!!!! Then, the guidance counselor hands me my schedule, and I sigh as I walk down the hallway towards my new locker.

The bell for home room rings, and I rush into the room just in time. I see Samantha at the middle of the room and I plop down into the seat right behind her. I start to zone out when she starts talking about every small detail of her month-long vacation this past summer. About two minutes pass and then, the boy from the guidance office walks into the room clearly dazed. the teacher, Mr. Jones is what he introduced himself as, says, "Ahh nice of you to join us. You're late, and that's not a good way to start off a new school year!"

The boy retorts,"Hi. I'm new here, and I got a little lost on the way to your room, sorry." A flush of embarrassment crosses his face when he realizes that everyone is now staring at him.

Totally ignoring the boy's apology, Mr. Jones cried,"Oh! you must be Liam then! Welcome to Rosewood High, the home of the thunderbirds. we hope that you like it here."

"Thanks," Liam answers as he walks around the room and sits in the empty seat right next to me. He smiles at me and the announcements come on, but I don't really listen because all I can think of is the fact that Liam sat next to me out of the five other empty seats, he chose me! the next thing I know, all of the students are getting up and rushing towards the door. the bell for first period must've rang without me noticing. I should be thinking about my first class, but the only thing on my mind right now is Liam.
