Emily's POV
I see bright lights and feel an uncomfortable bed when I wake back up. That must mean that I was carried to the nurse's office after I blacked out. Who carried me here though?
I force my eyes to flutter open, and my question is answered almost immediately. I see him standing there at the foot of the bed. "Liam?" I say as I finally become fully aware of my surroundings again.
"Huh?" he says while jumping almost a mile. Damn, I didn't realize I could scare people when I don't even try! "Oh, Emily, you scared me. You might want to cough or something next time," he said while laughing slightly.
I realize how absurd this situation must seem; I got hit in the face with a volleyball and blacked out. I feel a blush of embarrassment come to my face as I think about how stupid I must seem right now. Of course he would notice my blush because he pulls me out of my thoughts when he asks,"What are you thinking about? Is that why you're blushing?"
"I..uh..um nothing really." Damn, I can't even talk straight, I just sound like a babbling idiot. I mentally face palm myself for acting so stupid around Liam.
I look back up at Liam to find him staring intently at me and now he starts to blush for getting caught. Awe, he looks really cute when he blushes. It turns his semi-tanned skin a perfect shade of rose. I let out a laugh involuntarily before I realized what just happened.
Liam's eyes shot up to me (he was looking at the floor before), and he just gave me a look that kinda said are you mentally stable? So, I just sighed. "You know that I'm okay now, Liam. So you don't have to stay here if you don't want to."
He gave deep thought to what I said before he started to get up and pick up his jacket. I felt sadness wash over me as if I was expecting he would stay. But, why would he want to stay? He probably thinks I'm psycho now.
Then, as he turns to open the door, he gives me a wide, heart-melting grin while saying,"So, I'll see you in a little while to present our project in science." He closed the door, and I suddenly felt happy that he doesn't think of me as a complete incompetent idiot. Hopefully.

"Lunch time!" I hear Sam yell as we get rid of our books from fourth period. I roll my eyes at her obnoxious outburst and giggle as other students give her glares that seem to shut her up.
We get in the lunch line and I kinda zone out until someone taps me on the shoulder and I go ninja on them, ya know, when someone scares you and you jump and turn and hold up your hands like you're going to karate chop them. Well, that's what I did and it just so happens that Liam was the one who tapped me on the shoulder.
Wow do I feel stupid, as if earlier wasn't bad enough already. "Woah there, Bruce Li. Better not get my ass kicked in the lunch line," he says while smirking, obviously amused with my reaction.
"Well, maybe I wouldn't have to do that if you didn't scare me," I said in a mocking tone. He just laughed a brilliant, whole hearted laugh that just sounded so amazing and then looked back up to me.
"So are you ready to present our project for science?" I hadn't really given much thought to the project and having to stand up in front of the class to do so. I've always had stage freight, and now I'm starting to get worried. Gosh, I think my face must've went pale too because Liam seemed to notice. "What's wrong?"
"Well, I've had really bad stage freight since I was young, and now that you mention having to present the project, I'm not feeling to well." I spoke the honest truth, hoping I wasn't sounding like I just didn't want to put effort into the project.
