Emily's POV
I got to school at 7:20 this morning. Wow, I'm finally early. That usually never happens. I take a step out of my sea-foam green punch buggy, and I start walking to the front door. As I open the door, I see that some immature freshman decided that our school halls needed some more decorations, aka toilet paper.
After walking through the halls for a few minutes, I just got used to seeing the "decorations" everywhere, so I started to ignore them. I pulled my pre- calc textbook out my locker and then closed it just in time to see Liam strolling down the hallway surrounded by about five girls that were acting stupid and twirling their hair around their fingers trying to play dumb.
I just tried to ignore them too, but I was just getting so annoyed with them hanging over Liam. I ignored my urge to kill them all and went straight to my homeroom. About ten minutes later, the bell rang and the room started to fill up with the all too familiar faces of the people that I've know since I was five. There was one face I didn't see though, Liam wasn't here yet.
Pfttt he's probably frolicking down the hallway with those girls he was with earlier, I think to myself sarcastically.
Five minutes later, Liam walks into the room with one of the girls I saw him with earlier. Ugh, I can't stand people like her who always hang over the guys, but he doesn't even seem to notice. Either he's ignorant or he has a big ego and likes when girls are all over him.
I realize I've been staring at him when Sam waves her hand in front of my face to snap me out of my daze and says,"Hellooooo? Earth to Emily."
"Whattt?!?" I squeal back at her because she scared me.
"I just wanted to make sure that you weren't making it too obvious to Liam that you totally have a crush on him."
"Well, I guess that crush won't last for too long," I say pointing to the girl who is still all over Liam.
"Ah well, then that's his problem that he's missing out on you," Sam says, making me smile. The announcements come on and all I hear is bla bla bla until our class president comes on the screen.
"Attention students! We will be having our homecoming dance exactly one month from today! Mark the date down, Friday, October 7. We hope to see you all there!" I feel a rush of excitement go through me when I hear this announcement. Maybe, just maybe I could find the courage to ask Liam in a few weeks if he'd like to go with me. The bell rings and I head off to first period. Oh joy, math.
---------------------------------------------
Before I know it, it's lunch time already. It's a good thing that I packed my lunch today because it seems like everyone is buying lunch, and the line is enormous!
About ten minutes pass before I see Sam making her way over to the lunch table. It looks like she got a salad for lunch today. "How was the line?" I ask Sam with a smirk on my face.
"Loonnnggggggg! And you better wipe that smirk off your face before I do it for you," she tries to say with a straight face. Neither of us can hold in our laughter and we burst out laughing. We get a couple of odd looks from the people around us, but then, Sam yells,"RESPECT YOUR ELDERS YOU DAMN FRESHMEN!"
I was so embarrassed because the whole room was staring at us, and my face must have looked as red as a tomato. I didn't really care too much though, because Sam and I were having a good time yelling at the freshmen. They really should learn to respect their elders though...
I was pulled out of my train of thoughts by Sam jabbing me in the side and saying,"Liam is entering the lunchroom!!" I turn to where her finger is pointed, and to my dismay, Liam entered with the same girl he was talking to this entire morning.
