Everything appeared to be so quiet and normal, but something was off. I stopped abruptly, and my suspicions were confirmed; I was being followed. The footsteps were no longer in sync with my own. There was no time to turn around and cast a glimpse at my pursuer, I had to evade him; I needed to run. The foot steps grew louder. There was no time to think about the consequences, I just ran.

'Oi! Where do you think you're off to?' He was chasing after me.

'Just leave me alone!!!' He becomes closer and closer to me.

'What's the matter mate? I just want a little chat!' and with that, I'm tackled to the ground

Screaming as loud as humanly possible for help, I feel something hard pressed against my side. A gun.

"If you want to get away scratch free, you better stop fucking screaming. Give me your bag-"

"My what?!"

"Give me the bloody bag or I pull the trigger." I release the bag from a death grip and shove it into his filthy arms. He rummages through it, with a pistol still pressed into my side. He took what was left of my money, but left everything else be, seeing that I had nothing of real value.

"Get lost punk" He give me one last shove and runs fast in the opposite direction, leaving me speechless, hopeless, and desperate. I managed to get mugged on the first day, leaving me broke, lost, and homeless. Now what am I supposed to do?! I got up and brushed off the dirt from my now slightly torn sweatpants. I bent over to pick up my bag, putting pressure on my right leg, and crumpled in pain. Shit, I think I broke something. Tears started to flow from my eyes as I began to lose it.

"There's no hope for me," I sobbed,"I can't go back, but I can't live on my own. I might as well just bloody end it all!"

I hear footsteps approach me, but I don't care anymore,  they can kill me for all I care.

"Are you okay?" someone asks over my muffled sobs.

"Does it look like I'm fucking okay?!" I shout between sobs, keeping my head down.

"Look, there is no need to be rude I just want to help." I look up to see a blonde man, looking to be in his early twenties.  His beautiful grey eyes fall onto my piercing ice blue.

"My name is Dominic, what is yours?" He held out his hand and pulled me to my feet with a strong grip."

"Matthew," I mumbled as I winced when pressure was accidentally applied to my right leg.

"Are you okay?" He asked again, concern coloring his eyes.

"No," I whispered weakly, "I am lost, I have just got jumped and my leg feels like it is about to give way any second!" I shouted, bursting into tears and soaking his shoulder.

"Shhh, It's okay. Would you like to me to take you the hospital-"

"No!" I let out a little to quickly. If I go to the hospital, they will want information, and when they have information, they will know I am a runaway and send me home. "No," I repeated slowly.

"Well at least let me look at your leg." He inquired as he set me down and rolled up my pant leg. "It looks like you've only sprained your ankle, you should probably put some ice to it."

I shivered as his warm fingers probed the bruising skin of my ankle. "I don't have anywhere to go," I blurted out.

"Let's go back to my place, it is just around the corner."

Together we limped away in the direction of his flat.
