WHOO, it has been a while since I updated this story.... Enjoy!

L sat in his "office". An abandoned floor of the school that was not accessible by its elevators. He looked at his computer monitors. Over the past day, he had investigated the members of team RWBY and team JNPR. The results were inconclusive. Each person was suspicious in their own way, and L was running out of time. Remnant had much less criminals than on Earth, so when they all were killed, Kira would be nearly impossible to find. He took a bite out of another chocolate chip cookie, and went over all his information.

Ruby Rose seemed highly suspicious, unable to figure out their first puzzle, unlike the other members of her team. Then again, she was somewhat childish, so it maybe wasn't that unnatural.

Weiss Schnee was the one who saw the creature that terrified her, and she soon later forgot. She seemed highly suspicious for that, maybe even enough to become a second Kira perhaps? No, a second Kira would have not announced they had seen the creature. The Shinigami.

Blake Belladonna seemed to act normally. At least, as normally as L had seen and compared with the footage he'd seen of her on Beacon's security cameras.

Yang seemed like she hated Kira and wanted to find them. While this would make her less likely to be Kira, it did not opt her out as an option, as it could have just been a cover-up act. She had no suspicious behavior L could detect.

As far as L could tell, Ruby had a 28% chance of being Kira, Weiss had 4%, Blake 15%, and Yang 25%. The members of JNPR were each 8%. L pondered for a moment. Light was the weakest possible suspect. But he turned out to be Kira after all. Considering this, L thought to bring in Weiss, but the more he thought about it, the more she seemed impossible to be Kira, or know who Kira was anyways. Leaving Blake as the prime suspect. However...

Suddenly, L heard his office door open. He turned around, and saw the familiar Ozpin. He had given L a home in this new world, and the few who believed him when L told his story. Behind Ozpin was someone L didn't recognize. He seemed to be of someone of high importance. "Ryuzaki. This is General Ironwood. He wanted to see you." L looked up at the General. He did not look happy. He spoke with an iron fist, "Ryuzaki. While I appreciate your concerns, we Hunters and Huntresses do not need a kid like you in charge of the Kira investigation team." Ozpin sighed, and sipped his coffee. General Ironwood continued, "What we need are actual soldiers and detectives. Besides, your story makes no sense." L picked up a cookie off his plate, and took a bite out of it. "A 'human from another world'? 'I've seen Kira before and was killed by him'? How are we supposed to believe any of this?!" Ozpin pushed up his glasses, "We already talked about this, Ironwood. He has passed every detection of lies we could muster, and his story is backed up by the fact he has no aura. Besides, even if his story isn't true, this boy is a genius." Ironwood grew angry, "A genius? Maybe I missed something here. Because he HASN'T CAPTURED KIRA YET!" Ironwood shouted banging his fist on L's desk. L put down his cookie, and said, "I believe Ozpin already proved how much I know about the Kira case. I said Kira needs a name and face to kill. And since we experimented with having news networks give false names to criminals broadcasted, they have not died." "That proves NOTHING! For all we know, YOU could be Kira!" L pondered for a moment. He remembered how in the previous world, how he was accused of being Kira until he showed his face. This was clearly a different case. "General Ironwood!" Ozpin shouted, putting his hand on the General's shoulder, losing his cool for a brief moment, before returning to his monotone voice. "What do you propose we do instead?" Ironwood grunted, unable to come up with an answer, before storming out of the room. Ozpin sighed, then turned to look at L, who was now smiling. He felt like Ozpin had his back. "A word of advice, Ryuzaki." Ozpin said, while L took a sip of his hot chocolate. "You seem to act like this Kira is the same as the previous one from your world. The same person, perhaps. Keep in mind, though, that the Kira here might have the same killing weapon, but might not be of exact same personality." L thought for a moment. Then looked up at Ozpin, and nodded. "Very well. I know my next move."

Since Ruby and Blake joined forces, they spent a lot of the day together, writing names in the book's pages. Blake wrote down several names of the members of the White Fang, with the exception of one... The investigation channel they were watching to learn criminals names showed another culprit, and Ruby wrote it down. Blake realized something, though. "That's not his real name." Ruby looked up, Blake continued speaking. "The Hunters and Huntresses must have censored their names. I remember him, and that's an alias." Ruby looked at the television. "Can't you see their names, anyways?" Ruby asked. Blake shook her head no. The eyes must not work for people seen on tv. "So, how're we supposed to get to them now?" Blake sighed, and leaned back into her bunk. "I do not know." Ruby collected the pages they wrote on, ripped them up, and threw them away. "Well, the White Fang meeting is in 3 days, right? We should prepare for that." Blake nodded her head, and pulled a map out of her backpack. Ruby saw it was a map for a warehouse near the docks. Before either of them could say a word, however, Ruby's scroll vibrated. When she answered it, she saw it was Ozpin calling her down to his office. Ruby shrugged and grabbed her bag. "Where are you going?" Blake asked, "Ozpin." Ruby replied, before walking out the door.

Upon Ruby leaving the dorm room, Blake started packing up the map of the warehouse, and noticed Ruby left some of the Death Note's pages. When she picked them up, she heard Ryuk chucke. "What's so funny?" Blake asked, turning to face the God of Death. Ryuk then walked over to Blake and sat down beside her. "You know...I never understood humans." Blake rolled her eyes, "Big surprise." Ryuk continued, "The first time I dropped a notebook in the human world, the result was interesting. His name was Light. He used the notebook, with the intent of killing all the world's criminals. But that wasn't all." Blake started listening a little more intently now. "I always thought he was insane. I never said that, of course, I am only an observer to him as I am to you and Ruby. I always thought he was the most interesting person ever to hold the notebook. He was crazy, but sane. He was also a genius, able to think outside of every box. He even managed to kill L..." At this, Blake looked up at him. "...Before he, himself was caught and killed by my own notebook. Better that than what fate he would face at the hands of the authority, anyways." Blake was confused. Why had this strange god been speaking of this, almost like he...missed him? "I never found another human who was nearly so interesting after that. Everyone else was too scared of the notebook's power, of what would happen to them. So when I found out about Remnant..." He turned to face Blake, his nightmare-ish eyes fixed on her. "I thought I could re-create what had been done before. And you could say I succeeded, but...no, I didn't. You and Ruby aren't like that. I feel something...more with you and Ruby. You and your team are truly human." Blake was surprised, "Uh, thanks? I guess?" Ryuk chuckled again, his old self returning. "It's not a compliment. you and Ruby will fall to L. It cannot be denied. He is too clever. You are just children with a fool's dream." He returned to his feet. "Although...It's kind of a pity. I really liked the idea of having the fun again. But now I see it can never happen once more." "What do you mean?" Blake got to her feet, now wondering where he was going with this. "This is where I leave you. You're on your own, now." Ryuk said, walking towards a wall. "If you see Ruby, tell her I left. The notebook remains in your grasp. But know that if you keep trying...someone will get hurt. Be prepared for it." And with that, Ryuk walked through the wall, and vanished.
