Images swirled around the inky blackness that filled the comatose mind. There were hellish images, of a man made of dripping tar with nightmare faces fighting a blonde man with a knife. There was a dungeon with rough walls and barred iron doors, and red restraints made of magic that got tighter and tighter the more the restrainee struggled. Death. There was so much death. Death that the mind hadn't witnessed, that the mind couldn't remember witnessing. Through the hellish imagery, there were happy scenes too. A blonde baby, the little girl getting bigger, running into the arms of a black-haired man, who scooped her up and tossed her in the air.
He has a kind face, the mind thought.
There were many images of the black-haired man. The mind would not complain though, the black-haired man and the small blonde child were comforting.
What the mind did not know was that the man and the child were both nearby, and were never far away.
