Chapter Four

I wake up with a pounding headache. I was naked. Josh had his arm wrapped around my torso. I turn to face him. Josh was already up. "Good morning," Josh says with a smile. I kiss him. "Did we...? Last night...?" I ask. Josh nods slowly. I smile at him. "I figured," I say. We were still at the fraternity house. We get dressed and leave. "Do you want breakfast?" Josh asks. "Yeah, I'm starving," I say. We go to IHOP. We sat in the car for a few minutes. "Are we a thing now?" Josh asks. "I think so," I say. "We should see if Tyler and Mark want to eat with us," Josh says. "Okay," I text Tyler. He responded with sure and that they will be here soon.

We decided to inside and get a table. Tyler and Mark come and sit down. The waitress comes. "Hi, my name is Rosie and I will be your waitress. Can I start you off with drinks?" She asks. We all order water. "Last night was crazy," Tyler says. "We were fucked up," Josh says. "Yeah, I know, you guys got drunk and had sex," Mark said. My eyes widen. "H-How do you know?" I ask. "Wilson told everyone at the party. He walked in on you two making out." Mark said. I swallow hard. "And he said-" Tyler hit Mark. "Shut up, will ya?" Tyler said, a bit irritated. Mark slouched in his seat and played on his phone. "I'm sorry about him. He doesn't know how to shut his mouth." Tyler said. "I have to use the bathroom," I say. I get up and rush to the bathroom.

I slam the stall door shut and lock it. I begin to panic. "Everybody will know by Monday if they don't know now," I say to myself. I get out of the stall and leave the bathroom. "You okay?" Josh asks. "Y-Yeah, I think," I say. The water was already on the table. "I ordered you chicken and waffles. I know you like chicken so I thought you'd want it." Josh says. "Thanks," I say. "I just want to eat and get out of here," I say. "The food should be here soon," Tyler asks. I nod.

The food comes. We eat, pay and leave. Josh and I go back to the dorm. "Did it hurt when I bit your neck?" Josh asks. "Not really," I say. "Are you sure?" He asks. "Josh, I'm sure," I wrap my arms around his torso. I rest my head on his chest. I heard his heartbeat. It was so calming. It was slow and steady. "Hals?" Josh says. I look up at him. "I hear your heartbeat," I say. "So, I'm not dead yet?" Josh jokes. "Nope," I say. I lay down on my bed. I cuddle up close to the stuffed mudkip that my dad got me for my birthday when I was twelve. It's the last thing I have of him after he died. I close my eyes. "Are you tired?" Josh asks. I nod slowly. Josh cuddles up close to me and wraps his arms around me and mudkip. Josh sang me to sleep.

I wake up. Josh still had his arms wrapped around me. He was on his phone. I kiss his hand. I turn to face him. "Did you sleep well?" Josh asks. "Yeah," I say. "What time is it?" I ask. "It's only twelve. You've been asleep for two hours." Josh says. "Only two? Can I just go back to sleep?" I ask. "No, then I would have you asleep and not see your pretty hazel eyes," Josh says. I blush. "How cute. You're blushing." Josh kisses my cheek. "Can you just hold me forever?" I ask. "I wish but the university does exist and we have it tomorrow," Josh says. I groan. "Did you have to remind me?" I ask. "Sorry," Josh says. I get out of Josh's warm grasp. I stand up. "Are you okay?" Josh asks. "Yeah, I just need to smoke," I say. I grab a cigarette and the lighter and go outside and smoke.

When I go inside, Josh was sitting at his laptop. I walk up behind him and wrap my arms around his neck and hug him. He puts his hands on my book. I kiss his neck. "Whatcha doing?" I ask. "I forgot to do an essay for my Music Education class," Josh says. "Really, Josh?" I say. "I'm almost done. It was only two hundred words." He says as he types. I had a migraine. I take some medicine. "I'm gonna go for a walk around campus. Do you want to come?" I ask. "No, I'm gonna stay here and try to sleep a little bit. I barely slept last night." Josh says. "Okay," I kiss him. "I'll be back soon," I say. "Okay," Josh says as he lays down.

I walk out of the dorms. I walk around campus. A girl walks up to me. "Did you fuck him on the bathroom sink?" She asks. "N-No, and that's none of your business," I say. "Don't pretend to be innocent. Everyone already knows how much of a slut you are." She says. "Just leave me alone," I say. I walk away. She throws a pregnancy test at me. I pick it up. "Keep it." She says. I put it in my pocket. I run back to my dorm crying. I slam the door shut. Josh wakes up. "Halsey, what's wrong?" Josh asks. "I'm fine, don't worry about it," I say. I go to the bathroom and lock the door. I sit up against the door and hug my knees. "Hals, what happened?" Josh asks through the door. I explained to him what happened with the girl and the pregnancy test. "It's none of their business, Halsey. Can you please let me in?" He asks. I unlock the door and Josh opens it and hugs me. He kisses me softly and lets me cry into his shoulder.
