It happened at the sport festival.

You took a deep breath and looked at the board in front of you.
Battle Tournament Matches
You searched the board for your name, until you reached the final match.
Y/N vs. Bakugou
Your breath hitched. You were always friendly with Bakugou - being Kirishima's girlfriend automatically made you his friend, after all. But fighting?
You didn't stand a chance. Bakugou would go all out on you, regardless of how he views you as a person.
"Hey," Kirishima came up beside you. You nodded in response, chewing your lip.
"Bakugou, huh?" Kirishima said, running his hand through his hair.
"Yeah. Eijirou, I'm honestly terrified. I don't stand a chance against him, and you know he won't go easy on me. I'm going to lose so easily."
Kirishima bent down and took your hand. "I believe in you, Y/N. Bakugou may be agressive but you're so smart - I know you'll think of something, and who cares about the outcome of the match? As long as you gave it your all, it doesn't matter who's victorious in the end."
You immediately felt comforted by his words. "Yeah, you're right. I can ask Midoriya-kun to see if he has any tips for fighting Bakugou. I'll just try my best to not get too hurt during the match, but I'll give it my all."
Kirishima grinned. "That's the spirit! I'll help you make a plan too. I fought with Bakugou so many times I feel like I know his fighting style pretty well."
"Will all students please head to the stands as we begin the battle tournament!" Midnight's voice echoed across the stadium.
Kirishima tugged at your hand. "C'mon Y/N, we've got some work to do."

"Will the participants of the next match please make their way to the waiting rooms."
You took a deep breath and made your way to your room, chewing on your lip.
God, you wish Kirishima was with you. He was settling the match between Tetsutetsu, so he wouldn't be able to wish you luck nor would you be able to see who won.
You sat at the table, your knee bouncing up and down. You and Kirishima had come up with a pretty solid plan. But still, you were nervous. Bakugou relies heavily on his reflexes and quick thinking, so there's no guarantee that this plan would even work.
Suddenly, you heard a knock at the door. "Come in."
The door swung open and Kirishima came in, grinning from ear to ear.
"I won!"
All of your thoughts and worries dissolved and you jumped up and ran into his arms. "I'm so proud of you Eijirou! I knew you'd win against Tetsutetsu - his fatigue hits him really hard, doesn't it?"
Kirishima laughed. "Yeah, it does. But still - it was a close match. Tetsutetsu is a really strong guy, and so manly, too!"
You opened your mouth to reply, when the PA system crackled.
"Will the participants of the 8th match please make their way to the stage."
Your worries immediately came rushing back, and you found yourself chewing your lip again. "Holy shit - I'm so nervous, Eijirou."
Kirishima reached over and held your face and gently kissed your lips. "You're going to do amazing Y/N. No matter what you do, I'll always be right there, cheering for you. If you ever get nervous just look for me, okay?"
You nodded slowly, and Kirishima kissed you again.
"It's showtime, Y/N! Go out there and show the world what you're made of!"
You managed to grin as you made your way out the door.
"You can count on me."

All the confidence that Kirishima gave you disappeared as soon as you walked onto the stage.
The crowd was roaring as you faced your opponent. Your eyes met Bakugou's and your heart couldn't help but do a flip when Bakugou grinned and started creating miniature explosions within his hands.
You took a deep breath and closed your eyes, reviewing your plan as quickly as you can. But your nerves made you forget every step you had so carefully reviewed prior to your match.
You needed more comfort, more reassurance.
Your eyes made their way to the crowd, desperately searching for a certain redhead.
Suddenly, a loud, familiar voice filled the stadium.
"That's my girlfriend! That's her! Good luck Y/N, go beat Bakugou's ass!"
Your eyes shot back up to the crowd, trying to locate the source of the voice.
You finally found him. Way in the back behind Uraraka, Kirishima was standing and pointing at you.
Even though you felt as if you two were miles away, you could feel him cracking a huge, tupidly adorable smile when his eyes met yours.
"I love you, Y/N!"
Your eyes widened.
Kirishima Eijirou has never said 'I love you' to anybody.
It was your first time receiving an 'I love you'.
In front of everyone to hear.
It took everything in your power to not abandon this match and run straight into his arms.
But you didn't.
It'd be better to do that after you beat Bakugou, after all.
