When you left me it began to rain,
As if the world had broken with me.
My heart of gold turned into a heart of crimson red.
I became angry,
And I shielded myself from those I loved.
I thought you had broken me.
I thought I wouldn't recover.
I thought this was surely the end.
They all told me "it'll get better sooner or later",
But what about now, the present.
What about the pain I feel now,
What about my heart now.
I wanted him.
I wanted him by my side through the storm.
I wanted him through my worst.
But baby girl I'm here to tell you that there is peace in the rain.
Every bruise,
Every scar,
Every single wound,
Will heal.
Yes you wanted him here,
But this is the chapter of your life when you must be your own rock.
When you need to be your own umbrella.
Don't let the situation consume you and reduce you to a shell.
True beauty does not come from the absence of pain,
Or the absence of tears.
It comes from the act of breaking free,
Breaking free from the situation that seemed so very tough.
The situation does not define you.
You define you.
That's the true beauty of pain.
It has the potential to help us realize that no matter how hard it's raining outside,
There will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
I will end this by saying that sometimes flint and steel just don't make a fire.
And maybe it's because the flint is faulty,
Or maybe it's because the steel is faulty,
However,
In the end,
It doesn't matter who was at fault.
What matters is what you do to make that damn fire.
So with that said,
Dry your eyes,
Pick yourself up,
Go outside,
And find your sun.
And if you can't find one,
Make one.
