Artemisia's room - Leif's sister's - was the same as her brother's, no, actually emptier: there weren't any drawings of dragons or flowers on the walls.
- Now it's yours, you can decorate it however you want. My sister won't mind - Leif had said.
Mira sighed quietly and sat on the bed. Once he got up, he would start his first day as a resident of the island.
He ran his fingers through his hair, not sure whether to go peep in Leif's room to see if he was awake or to wait for him to come and say good morning.
He remembered the boy's ultra-developed senses and decided not to scare him like the day before.
He closed his eyes, imagining to be in his own room, at home, even though that was his home now. For a second he let himself dream of being woken up by his little sister, of joining their parents that were having breakfast outside.
- Good morning - said Leif, after knocking gently on the wall.
- Good morning - replied Mira, opening his eyes again and drafting a smile. It was useless to get lost in his memories. His new life was there, now, and it was about to begin.
A part of Leif's mouth went up shyly.
- Are you ready? Today I'll introduce you to the others and I'll take you shopping: you'll need clothes, more importantly clothes that don't catch on fire easily. You never know, with our dragons going around the house.
Mira nodded and got up. Together they went to get breakfast and, when they entered the kitchen, Charcoal nibbled Mira's ankle.
- It's his way to greet you - explained the young Dragontamer, getting on his knees and emitting a funny sound to the little dragon. The creature answered with a similar sound, wagging his tail.
- Cocco did that too... - muttered Mira with nostalgia.
They went out. Leif showed him the greengrocer, the fishmonger and the butcher, then he stopped in front of a building which had plants everywhere.
- This, as you can see, it's a shop of herbs and plants. Its owner is Rorik, the plants Dragontamer, of course. Come, let's go in.
Rorik was big and tall, he had dark skin and his hair was dark brown. He was working around the counter, helped by three small dragons, and when he noticed Mira and Leif he smiled, a smile that reached his chocolate brown eyes and made them sparkle.
- Hello - he greeted them. His voice was gentle and deep.
- Hi, Rorik - replied Leif.
- How are you?
- I'm fine.
Rorik's gaze moved to Mira and the boy nodded.
- I'm fine too - he hurried to reply. - My name's Mira.
- Nice to meet you, Mira - said Rorik, taking one of his hands in his.
- Mira is from an island destroyed by the last storm and from today on he's going to live here - informed him Leif. - I'm showing him the village and introducing him to the Dragontamers.
Rorik smiled with compassion.
- I'm sorry for your island, Mira. Welcome to the village.
- Thank you.
- Are you still in need of an assistant, Rorik? - asked then Leif. The plants Dragontamer nodded. - Mira, you could give Rorik a hand with his shop, if you want.
- Take your time to settle in and think about it - replied Rorik with kindness, before turning to his small dragons. - Little Tree, Flower, Leaf, let's go back to work. Thank you for the visit, Leif. It was a pleasure to meet you, Mira! See you around.
